CD and segmentation errors
Okay, running PCSX on a 1.3GHz RH8 machine.
I cannot for the life of me find a plugin to use the CD. The PCSX site says they have one, but the file is down, and I cannot find it anywhere. I tried the Mooby CD-R file, but it is not detected by the config. I used to have this working on my Madrake 9 amchine, but I nuked the drive, and now cannot find a CD plugin for Linux. The other problem, and it may be related, is it continually asks me to configure, which is fine, but I cannot select a CD plugin (all the rest work fine), and whenever I hit "ok" to exit to try and find another program, I get a segmentation fault. Looking through the logs, I see I get two pthread_create errors with SDL. Will a newer version of SDL fix this? And, where can I find a CD plugin for Linux? |

Re: CD and segmentation errors
someone already told me the answer to your segmentation error before......you have to compile the emulator from the source yourself.

Yeah, did that. Curios, though: compiled from source, put it does not create any of the plugins it gives the source to (at least, not anywhere I could find), nor does it create the Plugin or Bios directories needed. I figured I must have done something wrong, but it does run. Sort of.
Is there perhaps a better way? I followed the instructions, but I could have screwed it up (a VERY real possibility). Also, any idea about the CD plug-in? |

Okay, so I got that working. Updated to SDL 1.2.5 which still didn't fix the problem. So, I figured, well, maybe its the plugin. Axed the SDL plugin, and lo-and-behold. FYI, neither epsxe or pcsx would run becuase of this plug-in. Not exactly sure why.
They both do work with the softX plugin, however, and seem relatively fast. The MesaGL plugin similarily does nothing. Although I can configure it, as soon as I try to run a game, it simply hangs. The opening black screen comes up, and the CD is never actually accessed. I have an nVidia card which uses OpenGL libraries, though these are very similar to the Mesa ones, from what I can see. Is there an OpenGL plugin for this? Oh yes, and the CD-ROM problem was also solved by getting the cdriso plugin from here: http://www.emufanatics.com/download....ownload&id=259 ,in case anyone cares. So, and OpenGL plugin anyone? Or a clue as to why the Mesa one ins'ty functioning? |
