Wipeout and Wipeout XL run too fast

The video plugin reports 60 FPS but everything runs about 4 times normal speed. I've reset the plugins and the emulator to default but it didn't help. I'm thinking it's a flaw in the emulation, but if anyone's found a workaround I'd love to know.

hi, maybe the ''Parasite Eve 2, Vandal Hearts 1/2 Fix" option could help you, else you could limit the fps to 15 or 20 fps.

It's on NTSC.
Tried the Parasite Eve fix and it had some effect but it didn't help.
Basically the gameplay is running too fast, e.g. the spinning models of the ships and maps in Wipeout XL spin so fast that they blur, and Vector speed feels like Phantom speed.

Where can I check for PC FPS calculation?

I didn't have it on. For the heck of it I turned it on, and it cut the framerate in half but did nothing to the game speed.

Good guess on my using Pete's OpenGL plugin, by the way. When I use the same settings (PC FPS calculation off) in ePSXe, both games run great. In PCSX, the gameplay is too fast.

This really sucks for me because my PS2 console runs Wipeout XL at half framerate whenever the neGcon is used (smoothing and disc speed make no difference), and PCSX is the only Windows emulator I know of that supports the neGcon.

I have the same problem. and i have tried limiting fps in all ways possible via the video plugin, but like you said it shows the fps i limit it to, but the game runs extremely fast, and to those that think that we are mistaking it with the actual game speed should try it first, because Gyruss, like me, have played the game in the actual hardware.

I agree in that it could be an emu problem but to be more precise i think its an emu-plugin interaction problem, maybe it will get fixed in the next release.

Is the game always running too fast on your system gyruss or does it hiccups back to normal speed on ocassions ?

Btw, seeing you are a Wipeout fan like me i recomend you visit:

http://www.wipeoutzone.com

that is if you havent already been there, its the BEST wipeout community/forum i have found and there are excelent competition times on that board, great really great ppl, and the game designers also come from time to time on the forums and have great deals of information to share about the game.

Its a pity to hear that wipeout xl slowdowns in ps2 using the negcon, coz i am about to buy one but playing WOXL with my negcon was one of the main reasons to get it, i thank you very much for giving me that info just in time, tho i think i will end buying it just for Gran Turismo 3/4, again a pity they didint add negcon support for that game, logitech and their force wheel might have been the reason they didnt add the negcon..
