Gran Turismo 4 graphic problem

I have pcsx installed on my notebook and i have an issue with the graphics. I tried all kind of configs but no chance. The game loads nice bu when i am at the begginig of the race the graphic is all screwed up. I can hardly see the gauges..... there are squares all over the place and nothing else. Have any sugestion about the settings. I have a core 2 duo (t5450) 1,66, 2GB ram, ati HD 3470 (250MB ram). Thanks!

is it pcsx or pcsx2 ?
if it's the latter, then this isn't the correct place to ask
