PCSX controls just...quit?

I am running pcsx on my macbook and sometimes the controls just completely stop responding. How do I fix this?

I am using my keyboard.

This is sort of difficult to explain, but I dont know how to explain it any better than this:

When i start up the game, it will work just fine but soon after (no particular time period) the controls just stop responding completely. This doesnt happen on all of my games. Also, the music just plays whatever was playing at the moment in time where the controls stopped, so it makes a really irritating screech or drone sound. However the sprites keep moving as if everything else should be working.

This all seems very strange to me.

Edit : PAL games or NTSC ?

It has only happened to me on my Tactics Ogre ndif, which is ntsc

OK, now my other iso wont work, it just says that the disk image failed to mount and is not recognized.

sounds like the game has 1/2 crashed - the other 1/2 is still working? changing your plugins should help, i posted recommended ones for pcsx a few months ago, but it's been deleted, can't understand why only 4wks of posts for pcsx.

I actually experience the same issue on PCSX-r running on Windows 7 (I use PCSX because I don't want to download a BIOS).

It happens to me on Final Fantasy Tactics.

I'm going to try different gamepad plugins and see if that works.

try turning on one of the "fix" options in Configuration->CPU, one of them fixes the FFT problem.
however there are currently issues with FFT with the Internal HLE BIOS, especially with Memory Card.
