Final Fantasy IX crash
I'm sure a lot of people have this problem...
I'm trying to run FFIX on PCSX 1.6 on my MAC X system. It keeps crashing during the airship scene in Dali. (funny colors and black screen) Is there any way around this? I can't seem to unmount the CD while the scene loads since the CD disapears when I start the emulation. Any help? |

Might wish to look at this location. This is a common problem on PS1 emulators and FF9.

I have exactly the same problem.
And the link was no help at all, all windows stuff. I've tried using different BIOS's different PCSX versions (1.6 pre, 1.6 test 3) Different versions of FF IX (USA one and LLC one) And may I remind you this is a problem on intel mac osx. Any help appreciated |

Try using even older versions of PCSX and see if anything can get past the point. All you have to do is get past that point, save, and then you can switch back to the newest one and continue.

Here's my findings
Changing BIOS does not work. (So the problem lies not in the BIOS, huray -.-). Bioses ending with a 0 are JAPANESE BIOS's Bioses ending with a 1 are USA BIOS's Bioses ending with a 2 are EUROPIAN BIOS's check your game version, use bios accordingly for best performance, although I found little difference in playing my LLC version and my USA version using bios SCPH1001 and SCPH7502 PCSX Test 3 can not play FF IX FMVs, it will be weird colored and all and will crash if this goes on for to long. I wish I knew how to fix this but I don't. You can skip the opening FMV by pressing any callibrated button, you can now load a game, you can play, but as soon as it hits an FMV PCSX Test 3 will crash. PCSX 1.6 Pre has worked best so far, it crashes at Dali, the CargoShip FMV and it seems a simular problem exists for ePSXe. I'm either looking for a way to SKIP the FMV or a way to fix the crash, I'm currently downloading a french pal version to see if it will help me get past the FMV. |

You are not allowed to posses bios files unless you own a playstation yourself.
You are not allowed to posses a game unless you own the game yourself. So, I just know you guys are all like saints and stuff and got a playstation at home, and the game. And for some weird reason you guys feel like making it hard for yourselfs to be able to play this game. You know, I'm just like that, I just more rather play games on my macbook because it's 17 inch screen just blows my tv away. I actually like having to partition another volume, install windows so I can bootcamp ePSXe and play Final Fantasy IX Not to mention I just freshly bought this PS2 to play FF XII and because Sony had to cutback on the expenses of the PS2 they actually removed the chip that made PS1 games correctly playable on the system. So I bought this PS1 to properly play FF tactics, VII, VIII and IX but it broke down? (2nd hand crap, right?) Just when I got to IX... Finished up the rest. And I just barely managed to make an image of my original disc before it broke but I think it captured a scratch of the disc so when I tried to burn Final Fantasy IX on a new disc, it burned wrong...? Oh and did you know, if I got a copy of FF IX and I download a japanese version of the internet because I want to improve my japanese... I can... Have fun pretending you are a better and more righteous person then I am. |

if you dont like the rules here then thats just too bad because i doubt anyone is shedding any tears for you. if you want to keep mouthing off you go right ahead, the only thing you are going to get out of it is the attention of the mods.
