i think the OSX version of pcsx is for power PC only.
You have to install Windows or Linux then to use PSX emulators

You must be reading my mind. I'm trying to do the same thing. There is a Universal Binary build floating around but it doesn't work, neither does the PPC build.
Right now I'm trying to compile PCSX-df. If I'm successful I'll put it up. If I can't get it to work you might want to look into running Wine or CrossOver for ePSXe. I know they work. |

We both have the UB but can't get the game to start. It crashes for me.
Got it working. Do you happen to have multiple BIOS files in your folder? Remove all except the one you need to play FFIX and it should work. No need to turn off any features or anything. --- Scratch that, turn off the dynamic recompiler so it doesn't crash when you take control of Vivi. Last edited by neonblue2; March 3rd, 2008 at 09:33. 1.6b is the last version of the official PCSX program. The only progress you'll see now is from PCSX-df, a Linux continuation.
I'm sorry I can't help with the flickering problem at the moment. My FFIX has been borrowed by a friend but I'm getting it back in the next few days. I'll see to it then. |

i found more problems...during playing ffix at certain points the graphics will go all weird with colored spots and black squares and the emu will lock up so ffix is not playable back to pcsx in parallels maybe |

Locking up? You don't have the Dynarec CPU on, do you?
EDIT: Okay, been testing (finally) and there seems to be no fix for the flickering problem. What configurations are we all using? Last edited by neonblue2; July 17th, 2008 at 02:14. Reason: Been testing |

im not a mac user so i have little i can say here but as far as your question about pcsx2 goes, its not backwards compatibile with psx games, its strictly ps2-based, you would need a beefy system to use it anyway.

Ok, i managed to install 1.6 beta, and the bios, but i'm also mounting the image of ffvii (disc 1) and it wont work... guessing pcsx only works with the original discs in the drive? (i have the discs, but not with me)...

Get lamer0's cdrmooby port here.
I'm gonna start heavily testing FFIX in PCSX 1.6b tonight on my Core Duo MBP and G4 PB. EDIT STARTS HERE So much for testing last night. Did it today instead. Anyway, so far so good on my MBP. The Prima Vista just crashed and I've saved at that first Moogle (the one who teaches you about ATB). The only issues so far have been the occasional hiccup in an FMV or battle. Don't even ask about the PowerBook... Check the attached pics for my settings. 2ND EDIT STARTS HERE Back again. Just got out of the forest and noticed that Zidane looks very white... ![]() There is no fix. 3RD EDIT STARTS HERE Wait...no, it seems the white Zidane problem in the above pic only happens when you leave the forest for the first time. ![]() 4TH EDIT STARTS HERE Ouch, it just crashed during the airship scene in Dali. No fix in PCSX apparently. Looks like more fiddling is required.5TH EDIT STARTS HERE I think I might make a post on my blog so that I don't write a novel here. Would you like to know more? 6TH EDIT STARTS HERE Woo! First disc completed! No problems since Dali.
