Lunar EB in Gens 1.30

Ooh. Lunar: Eternal Blue works almost perfectly now, minus quite a few battle sounds (none particularly annoying, at least so far). Most screenshots I have are new stuff, just no point to them.

No problems with the text now.

I knew the old man wasn't going to help at all...I'm fighting this ferocious sand shark (hehe, yeah right), and he's just sitting there looking at the sand. It's time for someone to retire...

I lied, some of the colors look messed up as well. Nothing big at this point, but one never knows what colorific oddity lurks around the corner...

More Working Designs madness. Why use the original text when you can butcher it and throw in whatever you want?

Last one. It's kind of fun to run up the tower, barely alive at the end, and then Lucia destroys everything with ease. Too bad Hiro starts as such a weakling. As you can tell by the shot, I mistimed the capture and initially got the slimes in red damage. Accidents happen.

I should have known there was a catch...you can't load saves. So close, and yet so far...

I don't have the PSX version, but there supposedly aren't very many changes. Music has been changed slightly (I prefer several of the songs in the original Sega CD version, especially the final tower song, which was really good), graphics were updated somewhat, some plot points changed, and "humor" has been lessened somewhat in the remake.* The magic gaining system (and the magic itself) has been greatly changed from the magic experience system in the original to the more standard leveling. The penalty in magic experience for saving was obviously eliminated in the PSX version. Of course there were no bromides as well in the Sega CD version. There aren't very many differences, unlike Lunar: The Silver Star.

* By humor I mean all the crass puns found in just about every conversation. Apparently using swear words one might imagine second graders use is funny to Working Designs.

I can save and load just fine.. Great game.. Are you using Ruby to save? Or are you trying to use the Savestates? Savestates don't work on Scd games yet.. Regular saving and loading does work though..

fivefeet8: I tried using the regular Ruby save, and it didn't work for some strange reason...I guess I'll try again later.

I can't get the regular Ruby save to work either... do I need to specify something in the gens options -> directories or something? If you're able to get it to work Ryos try to tell me what you think you did wrong before.

AHA! I figured out the problem. You need to specify a save directory in Gens. It saved the game to a directory that Gens didn't load from when I started Lunar: Eternal Blue. When I copied the .brm from the default directory to the Gens directory, it worked fine. Strange...

Back in the days when it was first release, it was a damn good game on the SEga CD(it still is).. Probably even the best game on that system.. The ingame animation sequences were amazing and still are.. Old school 2d rpg player here.. None of this 3d stuff.. heh.. Although 3d with a good story is pretty good too.. This 2d rpg is probably one of the best 2d rpgs around.. I played through this game twice.. Its pretty damn long too.. The story is one of the best around.. Used spoken dialog ingame.. It was ported over to the saturn and psx..

Now lets hope GameArts makes a new Lunar game..

That looks like a remake of Lunar 1 SS.. Its not a new LUnar.. Maybe a continuance of the LUnar 1 story? Still has the same characters from LUnar 1 SS.. Looks pretty sweet though.. But how much of LUnar 1 will they be able to squeeze into a GBA cart?
