I think PS2 can already render something with that sort of quality. The problem is to get more than one fighter and the environment all together at 60fps 8)
PS3 will definitely provide the power for that sort of quality, but developers need to start worrying about photorealistic rendering from the PS2. Namco has introduced specular lighting in its Tekken series with this last version, but the effect isn't as good as it can be. Perhaps Tekken 5 will provide a much better looking skin. It's more about rethinking the way models are made (less texture, more geometry, more realistic lighting and material properties) and less about raw rendering power. |
