Phantasy Star Universe - PC

I started playing the game. So far the game play is linear with a lot of FMVs.

At least the hack and slash is not bad.

And what is all these blue swirls floating around? Is this normal?

A small warning PSU uses GameGuard.

Man, it looks not bad. I'm still waiting for the european release.
Yes, all these blue swirls are normal. Also, PSOBB uses GameGuard. Will you play online mode?

Play online mode? No. It's almost $10 per month.

I will wait for the private servers to come out...

And since this one is a MMORPG now, I'm sure that we will see private servers soon.

The PC game is pretty much a port of the PS2 version so that is why the textures aren't top of the line.

I might be going on a limb, but PSU could be the Japanese version of World of Warcraft?

Are PSO series MMORPG? sounds like kind of sorta to me, the thing that shares with mmorpg are the monthly fees lol, I might give a chance the game for a month and see if I get hooked :P

its a good game

it has some down points, but good points too.

the good points are its fun to play, story is alright, and it keeps you involved.

bad points are, the voice acting is laughable, the controls are not the same as PSO, you cant any longer map stuff to the buttons on the control pad, using monomates requires the use of a submenu to activate them, unlike the DC where you could link it to a button and just press it to use, you have to complete 3 chapters in order to make your own character, so you get stuck with a premade one to start with which i dont like.

oh and lastly the pc version has no anti-aliasing options, so the textures/lines look naff however high you put the res/post processing etc

apart from that tho, its quite fun ;p

hmm pc version for me, loading times are uber-small. as in like only 1-2 seconds. on 360, i remember in beta it took like 15 seconds or something. Same with save times. Also, i hit 60 frame rates on highest settings. Personally like the computer version bettter, save for using keyboard to play. I need to buy a gamepad now.

You can go into your video card settings and turn on AA if the game doesn't have AA options.

The game engine even with forced AA can't actually handle AA, as the layer 3D is drawn to can't take it. Forced AA only smooths text
