Yeah Glide is nice and all but have you tried running UT in OpenGL with S3TC enabled? Simply beautiful.

UT with Glide is great! Even with my old Voodoo2, I can get decent speed with awesome graphics.

Hehe... Facing Worlds is one of my favourite maps. So fun to be up in the tower shooting the opponent's head with a sniper.

guys did you know the game deusex some said(i'm not sure)this game uses glide interface so there is a patch for nVdia card(tnt2 chipset) to run decently is that true??

BTW this game also simple WHOA!!!!!!!!!

Yes I played Deus Ex on my TNT2 Ultra several times actually. I love that game and I'm eagerly waiting for the sequal which will be using a modified version of the Unreal 2 engine much like Deus Ex used a modified Unreal Tournament engine. I would update Deus Ex to the latest patch because it has been more optimised for D3D(OpenGL isn't very good for Deus Ex). BTW this game is severly limited by hardware, I mean that it played pretty slowly on my system. My specs are in my profile.

(I'm really starting to regret replacing my GF3 with this Radeon 8500)

Ok I've been trying to get some UT S3TC screenshots uploaded for you guys but it looks like my new card just isn't going to work. So heres how to set Unreal Tournament up for high rez S3TC mode. (Remember I've only tested this on a GeForce, it should work on a voodoo 5 and any other card that supports DXTC - DirectX Texture Compression)

1. Install Unreal Tournament (if you haven't already)
2. Insert the second CD and select install high res compressed textures
3. Install the latest UT Patch (4.36)
4. Goto Epic's Unreal Technology site and get the latest beta openGL driver. Here's a link to the newest one.
5. Unzip the opengl driver to the Unrealtournament\system folder
6. Start Unreal Tournament and select you video mode to be OpenGL (it probably won't be listed at first, you may have to click show all devices)
7. After the game starts, exit.
8. Now go into your unrealtournament.ini under unrealtourament\system and look for the line [OpenGLDrv.OpenGLRenderDevice]
9. Now replace the old opengl line with this new one:

[OpenGLDrv.OpenGLRenderDevice]
RefreshRate=75
DetailTextures=1
UseTrilinear=1
UseS3TC=1
UseTNT=0
LODBias=0
UseMultiTexture=1
UsePalette=1
UseAlphaPalette=0
Translucency=1
VolumetricLighting=1
ShinySurfaces=1
Coronas=1
HighDetailActors=1
MaxAnisotropy=0
AlwaysMipmap=0
UsePrecache=0
SupportsLazyTextures=0

10. Save your changes and boot UT. Make sure 32 bit color is set on your desktop!
11. Load up the tutorial DM level and you should see a differance.

You replaced a Geforce3 with a Radeon 8500? Big mistake. Geforce3, although a bit older than Radeon 8500, are much better.

You said u turned on st3c on Geforce2? How do you turn it on? All i know is to turn on Anti-Alising.
