Acclaim's Juiced
Seeing as a lot of us like racing games and seeing screenshots of cars, I downloaded the demo of Juiced and took some screenshots. I took two screenshots of the menu because supposedly they're going to have Japanese cars and other type of cars. I also took screenshots of the three cars in the demo.
My thoughts about the demo is that it's alright. I can't stop spinning out of control. Well, I was driving at night in the rain which might be the reason but I don't know if it has those kind of physics yet. I need to do some more playing. *the demo doesn't let me play in 1024x768 **I'm not 100% positive yet because I need to play more but the cars actually recieve damage |

I don't know. I was trying pressing all the keyboard buttons and didn't find it. It's probably some upgradable part later in the game. There's no keyboard configuration option in this game right? It's kind of hard playing when the gas and the brake keys (up and down arrow keys) are so close to each other on my keyboard.

just tried it...first impressions:
good graphics - check basic arcade controls /w handbrake - check nice city track - check crappy rock music - check It has all the standard ingredients indeed. Looks good enough, better than Midnight Club 2. But it seems to be lacking something that sets it apart from other racers. Both NFSU and Midnight Club 2 have a certain style of their own. This game only seems to try to imitate (yes, I know NFSU is largely a Fast and the Furious ripoff, but it has it's own style), but it has nothing of it's own...well, one thing: pavement borders...and they're not even consistent. Some corners you can cut off by driving over the pavement while in other's you'll bump into them. In short: inivisible walls; evil in this day and age, I'd say. I'll play it some more, but this game has that "seen it before" thing. It's better than most of acclaim's "we-try-to-make-more-cash"-efforts though. I'll give it a round 2 before the final judgement First impressions can be wrong, y'know.*small update: In case you don't like spinning out of control all the time: I just won a race using nothing but 'wallriding'. ;P Last edited by Samor; June 11th, 2004 at 10:57. |

I tried this game but I didn't like :
1)OK it's a demo but we can't configure Pad or keyboard (where is the nitro button ?) 2)Cars don't go as fast as in the reality 3)The sound of the car is acceptable but the turbo isn't very good 4)Graphical problems (the night for instance) I prefer NFSU and MC2

As for the speed, yes it's fun but I meant that in NFSU the cars can go faster. In this game, the Supra runs at 230 kph in red line ! And the Celica at 200 !

Yes I agree with you and I don't think that the full version will impress me.
What a shame , it could have been better.......Let's wait for NFSU2 !

hm, sorry...removed that post of mine...
I found some settings I want to test out first.... it's supposed to have nitro's as well....I think I pressed the whole keyboard but can't find a nitro button. How convenient to not include a readme file... You can automod the car by pressing Page Down in the car selection screen btw. controls are L,R,U,D , V = camera view, B = handbrake, R = reset, End = reverse. Couldn't find much else. Well, just tried it with a modded car, but the verdict stays the same, so I'll repeat what I said in the removed post; From what it looks like, they tried to make a NFSU meets Gran Turismo game. The coolness of NFS with more realistic driving physics like GT. However, in their attempt to, apparantly, make an in-between game, they lost too much of both sides. The controls might slightly hint at realism (speed, handbrake) but are actually basic arcade controls, and a lot of the style found in NFSU can't be found in this game. Then there are these strange "pavement-borders" which kinda ruin the driving experience by both limiting it and giving unwanted aids. You can damage your car though, at least that's something neither NFSU and GT have. The best thing in this demo are the replays: something NFSU completely lacks is present in this game, and the camera views are really well done too. The game's not a bad attempt at all, but it feels a little boring and unoriginal. Unoriginal doesn't have to be bad if executed correctly, but this game takes bits and pieces of other games yet doesn't really stand out on anything. This is only a demo though. Hopefully the full version will show us some pleasant surprises. Last edited by Samor; June 11th, 2004 at 16:36. |

Read this
Juiced Demo by francesco_a for PC Demos at 20:31 9 June 2004 ![]() Currently hammered German Acclaim website now features a Juiced demo. Demo features three cars, two Celicas and one Supra (with another car, an MR2 possibly hidden as files for it are included yet it's not selectable) with one track available to test them. Demo has visible glitches and is probably a beta version. Thanks Mike. *Update* It was brought to our attention that Acclaim Germany uploaded the demo in error. The final demo is still in testing and will be released in the weeks to come. GamersHell.com Local Downloads: <LI>Download removed ---------- It was just a beta version and not a final demo. I'll redownload it and give it another try when the final demo comes out. |

Downloaded that demo about 1 hour ago...and... I like it very much
u have problems with controls? hmmm you had other demo or you didn't look into options/seting -> controls, there's everything to set as for me driving style is much better than in underground and no more wall driving without consequences time for some screen now and then back from work to home
