GTR Demo (not 56k friendly)

Here's some pictures of GTR, an up and coming racing simulator. The demo is pretty fun, it gives you 2 cars to drive (Lister Storm and Morgan Aero 8) and one track (Spa, in Belgium). The graphics are pretty good and the sound is really good (I think). The gear whine sounds awesome . The handling is pretty realistic, if you aren't careful you WILL spin out/lose control very easily but once you get good at it it feels like you're already a pro . Anyways, here's some pictures. I took 3 15 second clips of the game (2 Mbit/sec DivX, 18.8 MB total), if anyone wants them contact me on IRC in #ngemu.

Picture 1: Pulling out of the pits in the Lister Storm.

Picture 2: Going down the longest straightaway on the track.

Picture 3: Driver's seat camera in the Lister.

Picture 4: Hood camera in the Lister.

Picture 5: The front of the Lister after hitting a wall at 100+ MPH. The motor was dead and a tire was missing.

Picture 6: The cool looking loading screen with a map of Spa.

Picture 7: Leaving the pits in the Morgan Aero 8.

Picture 8: That's what the grass looks like if you skid or spin your tires on it.

Picture 9: Spun out and hit the wall .

Picture 10: Racing past the start/finish line with the hood camera on the Aero 8.

Picture 11: The Aero 8 after going uphill and hitting a wall doing about 140 MPH.

Picture 12: Another shot of the crash from 11, just a little later.

Here's some links in case anyone is interested in the game .

I guess it's different than either. I think LFS and GT tend to be rather forgiving (unless you really push the envelope), GTR's controls are really touchy. You can't just fling the car around, if you do you will end up in the wall very quickly. It requires skill, steadiness, and good reflexes. I have no idea how the game would play on a keyboard or a digital gamepad and I don't want to find out . Once you figure out how to drive correctly and quickly then it gets really fun . I suppose some, if not most of the difficulty comes from the throttle. The cars make a lot of power and it is very easy to spin the tires while cornering. If you enable the traction control then it should be much easier.
