The red hair was just a phase in Ryu's youth.

Re: look what I found on my harddrive...

Then why is it back to brown in Zero/Alpha? I thought SF Zero was set before SF1....

Re: look what I found on my harddrive...

hm true, but it was somewhat red-ish. Kinda like Mary (cough)
in SF2 it was near black and in Cap vs SNK it's brown again (but darker)

That's the common believe... But I also heard it's actually set between SF and SF2.
One argument is this: Sagat doesn't have a scar in SF. He supposedly got his scar at the final battle against Ryu in SF. Other subtle clues also suggest that Ryu and Sagat never met before that battle (point of this screenshot).

Re: look what I found on my harddrive...

It just makes the 'series' make less sense. *sighs* Capcom never were ones for continuity.

Re: look what I found on my harddrive...

ok i just changed all my "SF1" into just "SF"
So that SFZ can fit between SF and SF2.
does that make more sense now?

if sf is indeed before sfz, then the red hair makes more sense again

I would have to say that I suspect that Capcom doesn't put a whole lot into Street Fighter or anything related to it. My guess is they only use it for a slight backdrop to the series, to give Street Fighter 2 some characters.

I have a feeling that they didn't think about a storyline when SF was made.

Re: look what I found on my harddrive...

Why would a fighting game need a storyline anyway ?

Last Blade had a plot? I was too busy killing people to notice.
