I started playing Porsche Unleashed again

Started the test driver mode a few days ago. Today I got some free time on my hands, got promoted from Junior test driver to a regular, and then to Chief. The first assignment as Chief looks scary. Well actually just took a few tries to complete. But still this screen looked scary so I captured it, hehehe. May invoke memories for some people, and curiosities to the rest of ya.

Keep your throttle while handbraking at the start of the 360, and improvise the rest of it.

*edit* Actually I also saved the replay of this, lucky you. Unzip the file into your "SaveData" folder, and see if you can play it back.

final mission in Factory driver mode is to race against the "Ace driver" Stephanie (hot babe with long black curled hair wearing sunglasses, btw) in order to take her title. Sorry, honey.
It was the challenge I enjoyed the most. altho you can't see her much in these shots, she was actually close enough to threaten my position, all the way to the finish.

enough on the road, let's have fun on the skid pad!

there are two 360's in this assignment. 360 means you spin your car all the way around and continue driving the same direction.
first shot shows the end of the first 360. too bad only the 2nd half of the skid mark can be seen. The front wheels don't make very visible marks, because they aren't really on a skid (if you're good). The visible marks are made by the rear wheels. The intersection means the path of the rear wheels crossed, meaning the car turned around 180.

The second shot almost shows both intersections of the other 360 (notice the time index). the car turned around 180 twice, in one fluid motion. The third shot just shows me accelerating after that 360. Mission complete

I don't know if this game uses AF. I just leave the control panel settings to Application Preferences. And the game doesn't have any options for that. This game is released three years ago afterall. Perhaps the JPEG compression fuzz it a bit?

BTW, I maxed all the details in the game. I bought this Radeon 8500LE because of image quality, not gonna pull it down with lowered details. Game play is smooth, only rarely choke a little during replay at certain camera angles. Just like most games.

This is the "scary" assignment.
First shot just smoking a bit off the line
Second shot shows the 360, with all the skid marks, yeah baby. Front wheels make some faint marks this time. Hey, this is an endurance racer. I challenge anyone to do a 360 with this monster without the front wheel skids.
Third shot just... braking hard...

This is the _real_ scary assignment. You do a 180 into reverse, and then a REVERSE 180 into forward. Get it? Drive in forward, drive in reverse, drive in forward again, traveling in the same direction the whole time.
I did it, and I wouldn't want to do this again. It is THAT hard.

First shot shows the first 180 into reverse. Not a big deal... so far.
Second shot accelerating in reverse. Am I nuts???
Third shot the reverse 180. I guess that answer is yes.
Final shot I completed it. What am I still doing in reverse (see lights)? Shift back into first gear already. You did it you moron, now stop trying to kill yourself. (me still talking to myself about it)

HEY!!! I miss that game too!!! Takwu, how far did you go in the driving license??? I'm stuck on the part where you acquire the first GT(or endurance racer) and having problem making the 360 turn (the one posted above)

heh, actually I only finished the Factory Driver mode.
Had yet to start on Evolution, but I'm as always distracted by many other games (2 Goemon games, see PSX screenie board, and also got back to Jedi Power Battles, again).

As for the 360 in the white car, see my second post, I posted my saved replay

360 in general is most confusing in terms of where you have to do it. The two rows of cones form two sides of the rectangular area. The two "open" sides of the area are unindicated, you must visualize it. You enter one open side at a certain orientation, when you exit the other open side you must have turned your orientation 360 degrees or more. Hope that helps.

I think I saved replays for all of them, so just tell me which one you're stuck in. The 180-180 is hardest for skidpad.
