yep, its 3d but not like the crappy n64 one. It's gonna be like contra shattered soldiers, 2d gameplay in a 3d environment

Castlevania is probably my favorite console game series. I've been awaiting the next game for a long time (even though I don't have a PS2 I hope I can play at a friend's). I was kind of disappointed it went 3d... I love the 2d ones, and with the GREAT last 3 new 2d Castlevanias on the GBA I was hoping 2d would stay alive. I guess you gotta stay with the times though. Anyway, the shots look pretty cool, but it looks kinda too Arcade/Devil May Cry-ish. Devil May Cry is a great game, but I'm hoping for gameplay more Castlevnania-like, like SotN.

For me the biggest constant greatness of the Castlevania series though is the music, and we won't really know about that till it's out.

it's still 2d, they just revamped the graphics in a 3d perspective, the gameplay will be in 2d, as igarashhi(the creator) said "when you simply deliver the 2d experience in 3d it doesnt translate well"

dracula is eternal this serie's wont die until konami goes bankrupt. And the belmont clan is back on this sequel and their going against vlad and his infernal castle, konami will also be reassembling some characters from sotn

*edit i re-read the interview again and it will go semi full 3d, i have no idea what that meant but good luck on pulling a fully 3d castlevania game as the n64 vampire hunter counterparts were a flop

This game is a prequel. This game is set in the 11th century and is about Leon Belmont, the first of the Belmont clan to become a vampire hunter.
