I thought it was quite easy. But then, I've finished sooooo many adventure games (Even Gabriel Knight, wich was the hardest). I never use walkthroughs. Its like cheating, y'know!

DOTT is one of the greatest adventures ever. It's not freeware, but it IS an amazing game. I always break a smile when I see pics of this game.
Lucasarts' adventures have always been the easiest when compared to almost all other graphic adventures... I'd say the only challenging one was Zak McKracken...

I know, walkthroughs are like cheating, but I couldn't help myself. I was 13 when I played the game, knew very little english and had little experience with adventure games (I finished Gabriel Knight when I was 16, and found it quite easy). So I got this image that the game was hard.

Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis was quite hard for me. Than again, I was a kid when I played it.

Anyway, I found a win32 version of an Arkanoid of game.
http://www.realityrift.com/pub/arkanoid/arkanoid.zip .
Its a good pass time and has some new features.
BTW, this is the oficial page. http://www.chaossoft.com/arkanoid.shtml .
In "projects", u can see other freeware games made by them.

...what's your opinion about Indiana Jones & The Last Crusade ? ...IMO it was even harder than the sequel...

I thought Last Crusade was harder than Fate of Atlantis, even though I played it much later.
I'd say the hardest LucasArts adventures are Maniac Mansion and Zak McKraken.
Full Throttle is the easiest.

Thats... uhh... surreal!!

Anyway, there's a new version of scumm on their official page! (I don't know if its really new, but I only saw today). I think it works on WinXP.
http://www.scummvm.org/

edit: For the ppl who don't know, scumm is an scumm engine emulator. Most Lucas Arts adventure games used it, so u can play games like Dott in windows (with Super Eagle, if u like it).

Scummvm works on XP. I use it for DOTT, Sam n Max and the Simon the sorcerer games. I also use Connectix Virtual PC to run my old DOS games stabaly... It also gives me tha advantage of being able to play in a window.

Depends. My current 98 install in it takes up 2 gigs. Only prob with it is the lack of 3d support. Other than that, it's the mutts muts. I found it faster than VMWare too.

I remember reading an article when Simon the Sorcerer 3d was coming out and they were claiming that J.K. Rowling ripped it off with Harry Potter.

...Harry Potter isn't even funny. Humour is basicaly the whole point of Simon the Sorcerer (Hell most decent adventure games if I'm honest)

Speaking of old action games... there's still some GREAT freeware floating around out there.

I posted about King's Quest remakes a long time. They're really coming along though. Tierra Entertainment - http://www.tierraentertainment.com/ - has completed remakes of Sierra's King's Quests I and II. Both are redone with beatiful new graphics, and implement Sierra's mouse icon system from the later KQ and QFG to replace the old typing interface. Not only that, they also have additional new remastered sound and even have speech packs for both. The recently released KQ II REALLY is quite impressive... next on the sleight is Quest for Glory II, which is a GREAT game that will likely be phenomenal with the improved graphics and engine.

Here's KQ I:

And here's KQ II:

yup, heard of em; they're made using a program called "adventure maker", which is freeware itself too.

Indeed, there have been many games made with the freeware AGS (Adventure Game Studio)... but none match up to Tierra's masterpieces. They actually redraw and rerender their own art (instead of recycling pre-existing art), they remaster music and add their own original music, and they add speech.

Actually, Tierra's revamped King's Quest II is officially called King's Quest II+ because in addition to the superficial changes, the designers actually added new puzzles (and changed some existing ones), new plot, and new dialogue to improve what many people (including myself) thought was a somewhat incomplete game plotwise, and illogical game puzzle-wise.
