If I'm lucky, I might get a new computer by the time it comes out. I've fried part of the motherboard and there'll be other damage by the time doom 3 comes out.

Wha? Whats Quake4 doing in a Doom3 thread ?
I've seen the interview clip, and there were some non cinematic shots in there who looked just as good. John Carmack said that they'll be able to make movie-like graphics with the new engine, too, so I wouldnt be surprised if the real game looks better than these pre-game shots. ( Was like that for Tenebrae Quake, btw )

IIRC quake 4 will be using the doom3, but it won't be made by id instead raven is making quake 4.

Since GeForce3 has the bump mapping feature, I suppose it will run fine at medium level details. I wouldnt buy a new graphics card anytime soon if I were you though, whats more GF3. Its not bad but getting a GF4Ti later would be better, since I've read that Doom3 will be relying on graphics cards more than proccessors.

Ok, I'm getting a new computer, what would you guys recomend so that I could play this game fairly well, without spending alot of money. All I want is so the game and other good games run well, but I dont need the worlds best graphics and stuff. So, what would you say it should have?

After all of the benchmarks I've seen and with John Carmack himself declaring that ATI's CATALYST drivers are pretty tight and stable, maybe I will.

The Radeon 9700 drivers should be pretty good. Previously John Carmack wouldn't go near a Radeon 8500 because of the bad drivers.

Best suggestio is to wait and get a computer next year, I mean there are no possible reasons not to wait.

Processors that are at 1GHz or more are pretty much okay for GeForce4 Ti cards, regardless whether it's a Celeron, Pentium or Athlon. But you probably won't see the full power of the GPU exerted to it's limits.

i cant wait for Doom 3 to release, I still remember the first time i played doom. I litrerally bent sideways to see if there was a monster there around the corner.
I read somewhere that Carmack said that in Doom 3 the only place you will be safely hiding will be behind your gun. Since the environment will be totally destructible and sitting in one corner of a room behind a barrel wont mean you can relax.
Also those arent FMV sequences, just like Mgs series the cutscenes are rendered using the game engine itself.
After saying all that the fact is that with my current PC i couldnt play Doom 3 if it were released supporting 320x240 with 256 colours. (Exaggerated)
