>That wasn't Doom 3. It was just a modified Doom 2 with mouse and SVGA support. I had it as well.

As expected. I expect JDoom does it better anyway.

Also there's some news on an Xbox only port.
this if from homeland www.homelanfed.com

Quote:
The latest issue of the Wired print magazine has a new article on the development of Doom III, id Software's upcoming and latest game in their celebrated first person shooter series. Among the more interesting tidbits in the article: Microsoft is offering lots of money to id to make an exclusive Doom III Xbox port (id hasn't decided yet if they will do so) and in addition to the already announced multiplayer add-on there will also be a single player mission pack for Doom III. There is also the possiblity of a program that could generate unique Doom III levels on the fly, according to the article. The article also contains a number of new screenshots from the game.
I dont know why M$ is paying for xbox only. I dont even think any of the other current consoles could run it.

the only way to get people to buy your console, is to have exclusives.

let's say if you already have a ps2, do you want to shell out the extra $200 for another console + the cost of the game, or just get the game for the ps2?

they want to attract more people to the console as possible. why get it, if you could get it somewhere else.

Gamespots Q&A:
http://www.gamespot.com/pc/action/do...w_6026019.html

Now I really am beggining to think that DoomIII wont be just a graphical showcase. What do you guys think? Judging from the screenshots there should be a formidable plot and storyline. (From scientists to Zombies to Hell spawn)

edit: Yeah, I revived this thread almost a month later but c'mon, I hate creating new threads.

Ya stupid consoles (I still love em to death) have "exclusive" titles. But sooner or later most of em get released on other ones anyways. If not Doom III on PS2 than Doom 4. Ya know what I mean? Doom III looks sweet though. I cant wait till another hundred years when I can buy a new computer to play it. Stupid progress * holds fist up in air!*

I'd castrate myself if the PS2 would play Doom3 with that kind of graphics smoothly.

A small preview at E3 is better than none. Im tired of watching the same old video already.

Maybe Doom III and Doom IV (if made) will be on ps3, could happen.

I found this info about a Doom movie:

Quote:
The movie rights are still Warner Brothers', and if they don't begin filming before the first month of 2004, these rights will return to id Software. No cast, writer or even director has been given this project. And, according to ign, there's still the uncomfortable unsureness that the movie might be of a PG-13 limit.
Hopefully WB wont make a Doom movie and and keep the series respectible. *Carnage shudders at the thought of a PG-13 doom moive*

Probably gonna be just as bad as the Half-Life movie that's being (or going to be) made. I'm not really looking that forward to Doom 3 yet. I haven't seen anything here that I have not seen in Unreal II.

UnrealII is a blast-em-up. In DoomIII you're supposed to RUN.
