OK, bad analogy. It's like a new aeroplane being built using a piston driven propelloer as opposed to a jet engine.

Well unlike Doom 3 the Unreal engine is constantly evolving and improving. The Unreal Warfare engine is the latest official build of the engine but it's certainly not the last.

I think that Unreal 2k3 caused a shift in game's 3D engines quality and preformance....Its not very suprising to see most recent games have a 3D engine equivilant/ more powerful than that of Unreal.....

But you haven't even seen it in action!

( I want to see beams warp, worlds twist, and monsters explode from the inside.)

Question

carnage179, are you sure that that is the BFG? It looks nothing like it did in the original Doom. I liked the look of it better in the original Doom. As for not liking it becuase of it's looks, as Syed Fawad said, it's not the looks, it's the impact. A pure Plasma Engery weapon packs quite a Wallop.
sincerely,
sx/amiga

Daymn. I definately am going to need more than a GF4 Ti4200 to run that game at highest details smoothly.

All the Doom 3 shots are pretty impressive imo, only thing is all monsters of the same type look exactly the same. I know the game is pretty early and this will probably change, but running into the same fat guy zombie 40 or 50 times might get a bit redundant. I wonder if they will add some variables in the clothes and texture maps and models of similar monster types. make each one at least somewhat unique.

The screenshots are very impressive, considering it's the 'alpha' version. The release date is Spring/Summer 2003, so 'id' have some time to really work on it's final touches.....all I know is that it's really gonna rock!! Those who downloaded the alpha version, you just spoiled it for yourself. I had endless occations where I could've downloaded it, but i'm gonna wait. Hopefully by then, i'll have a Radeon 9700 AIW!!
