not really, i have no vibrations when i used the default config of my rumblepad 2, when the emulator is installed, the vibrations work. same with most games for windows that officially supports the x360 pad :P

At the default settings, it's for logitech rumblepad2 users, for other pads you may wanna edit the ini file for proper button layout.

@SCHUMI_4EVER: I believe the X360 pad only has one extra button versus the rumblepad2, thats the middle button. Also, the X360 pad has analog triggers so rumblepad2 users can't emulate that, its always digital input.
It's got two extra buttons as far as I know cuz The Last Remnant wants two more buttons I don't have...well I do but they are assigned to gamepad functions and can't be changed, one is the vibration button and the other is the mode button which switches the D-pad and one of the analog sticks.

So how do I use this emulator with a game I have already assigned all the controls to and I have everything but the rumble working perfectly?

shcumi, did you try to DEPRESS the left and right analog sticks on the rumblepad2? i believe the two 'missing' buttons you were refering. in playstation, they are also called L3 and R3
@gamefreak: looks like it,havent finish it yet

My experience somehow doesn't echo that of Viper. As going from C2D E4400@3Ghz to C2Q Q8400@3.5Ghz virtually gives me nothing in term of performance.

I mean, @1360*768 all high AA off AF 16X I used to get ~71 average FPS from the benchmak with 9600GT@730/1000. With a new CPU and 4GB of ram all working at higher speed (C2D and ram were at 10*300 but C2Q and ram are now at 8*440), I still get the same kind of performance.

It seems to me that this VGA is too slow to play most modern games comfortably, and already maxed out by my old C2D 3.0.

FYI, I even edited the config file, enabling 4 threads rendering (increase thread job), but it still seems to me that only 2 core are utilized. It's kind of funny that when you launch the game, you're greeted with "runs great on core i7", whilst in actuality the game merely uses 2 cores.

lol you are indeed a noob. the analogue sticks have a micro switch at the bottom. When you see the pad properties in the control panel you can see these buttons functionality.
But IMO these are difficult to use cause you end up moving the stick rather than pushing it down.

I am no such thing. Properties merely calls them Joysticks and I assure you I have a propper joystick where I can't press down to engage another button so there's no reason why I should have thought it would be any different with these two small ones. Plus Logitech does not mention it. And I have had virtually no interaction with a PS1 controller and my only interaction with a PS2 controller was playing SSX Tricky and Lego Racers 2 back when I was a kid and neither required me to press the Analog sticks.
And yes I do usually end up moving the stick when trying to press the button, thankfully though in The Last Remnant the only times I use it are either at a time where moving the stick does nothing, or when it controls the camera and pressing it returns me to the default view.

Excuses excuses

I myself didn't knew it until i played Chrono Cross eons ago. I accidentally depressed the analog sticks and Serge Quick turned or sumthin.

Anyway...
@PrTv: Well, obviously your getting a heavy bottleneck with that 9600GT already with such a fast processor so i wouldn't expect much of an improvement at that point.

Afaik, the Job thread in the MT Framewiork 2.0 engine as mentioned by some devs or analysts long ago were supposed to be around number of cores minus 1 and that would be the job thread (either the omitted core is for the additional graphics rasterizing or for sumthin else)

Got the game today. Looks ok with everything maxed out @ full hd resolutions. Controls were really bad to start with but once I switched to RE4 type controls its slightly better. should keep me busy for few days I hope. I haven't died yet but don't know why I feel I am playing it like a n00b (something just doesnt feel right).

That's exactly right, it seems.

When I messed around with the setting, I also found that the number was 3 in stead of 4. At first I thought there's something wrong when the game detected my setup, so I changed it to 4 "just in case".

Maybe that setting hurts the performance. Tomorrow I'll try reducing it to 3 and will see if there is anything to gain.

BTW, no matter how the game will run, I don't find it entertaining anymore. It's not that the game is not good, but I have finished it at least 4.5 times (quit mid-way on my 2nd professional run) on 360. This is unlike Batman AA, where PhysX does add many interesting effects, making it very exciting to revisit the game (I also completed it once on 360). Too bad my 9600GT can't cut it with PhysX enabled i.e. when there is no physics on scene the game runs at normal speed, but then something happens it drops down to 2x-5x and the performance too fluctuates to be enjoyable. Frankly, that game really makes me want more powerful VGA just to see those subtle enhancements.

I changed it back from 4 to 3 and now CPU load are distributed equally among all cores.

The game utilized up to 88-90% of all 4 cores, but the end result is in the same ball park as my previous C2D setup. Since I use the same graphical settings, I'm kind of wonder where does this extra work go. I mean, what did core 3 and 4 calculate, since my C2D, with less MHZ and cache per core, delivered the same result with 2 less threads. I have a feeling that it may come down to that VGA again.

Tearing was annoying but vsync can fix it, which introduces a problem, the slow loading problem DMC4 had (both used the MT Framework engine)
what slow loading problem? only if you use dx9, there is no loading bar in dx10 at all and just directly starts. So its more optimized in dx10 just like dmc4.

DX10 is slowest than Dx9 if you don't have a video card powerful enough. I got like 55-60 fps using 800*600 in DX9

I have a good enough setup to run both, dx9 is slower.

Made a video of the mercenaries mode, No Mercy ,mode. Just like in DMC4's Legendary Dark Knight mode, No mercy adds much more enemies on screen at once, its quite fun hehe.

I agree.

I've just upgraded to GTX260 and tried the game in DX10 mode. To my amazement, the game performs faster than it does in DX9 mode.

I however can't find any visual difference between the two, but the DX10 seems to get rid of that glitchy shadow plagues the DX9 mode (and X360 version).

This is what I'm talking about.

Another thing is that, running the game in Windows 7 (DX10), my CPU doesn't seem to have as much load as it did in XP (DX9 with 9600GT). A page earlier, I posted a picture showing all 4 cores @87% load, but now the load is merely <40%.
