I was never interested in a Sims game and this doesn't change my opinion.

For those who have Sims 2 skip this sequal. Basically the improved models are all inferior to the free stuff everywhere on the net for sims2.

And sims 3 from what i hear is less modable then sims 2. Sims3 offers nothing new to the mod comunity. And with mods sims 2 is superior in every way.

Sims2 models

You do realize you're comparing a game that's got alot of custom content out for it versus one that was just released, right? I notice your argument fell back only to the custom content The Sims 2 had, not the base game. That is where The Sims 3 really surpasses The Sims 2, and even with some custom stuff added, it's still not as good. It's not like The Sims 3 won't get more stuff in time either.

For now, the lack of stuff will make it seem like a step back to anyone with a whole boatload of stuff on The Sims 2, but The Sims 3 really does improve alot. Almost most importantly, EA seems to have noticed the want for customization and matching. You can style almost anything in alot of ways. There's some things that are steps back, like the Sims not getting into cars, and the lack of stuff versus The Sims 2 and everything available for it now may make the game seem unfinished, but that's grabbing at straws. You feel more immersed with the whole town being loaded and the whole world going on around you versus just one lot (with either fog or poorly detailed blurry blocky buildings in the background), and the time of day subtly changing (rather than either just day or night) adds to the immersion, and the graphics themselves are quite a bit better (not as much technically as visually, but it's the latter that matters anyway).

I'm not even a heavy player of the games and I disagree with your "skip this sequel" comment.

Edit: By the way, to the topic starter, both the controls and camera work just as they did in The Sims 2, no? The only difference I found was the sensitivity for camera when rotating seemed lower, but it's not a deal breaker.

I'm just basing my opinion from my sister who is hardcore addicted to the series and has sims 2 with every expansion/content pack and tons of mods & custom content and as well as sims 3.

She was insisting to me that sims 3 had pretty much no improvements, no matter how much i repeatedly questioned her on if she was maybe downplaying the improvements of the sequel.

Well, I've downloaded a few things for The Sims 2 in the past, but right now, I only have the Sims 2 and one expansion pack (Nightlife) with nothing else, so I have a better understanding of a base game versus base game comparison.

On the other hand, I remember playing The Sims (1) Complete Collection for a while, and going from that to The Sims 2 (with no expansions or anything) seemed basic at first, so I know where your sister is coming from. It gives the game a bare feeling at first, but the stuff included with The Sims 3 out of the box can be customized itself, and there's sure to be more custom content for the game as time goes on, through expansion packs, stuff packs, and community content. To say the game is hardly an improvement based on that one thing, well, that's just being ignorant or biased. The Sims 2 is still a good game. The Sims 3 is just better (and I've since given my copy of The Sims 2 to my brother since I hardly played it as it was, and now have this one).

It's overall better in many regards.

The visuals are better (though it's mostly outdoors).

The sims thesmselves and interactions are better (create a sim, traits, more options with the way the work systems works, etc.).

The world is better (seamless).

The stuff is more customizable.

There are drawbacks to be found, but they aren't deal breakers.

If that's your subjectivity of it, then A) it's pointless even explaining it to you based upon your subjectivity of it, and B) why are you even in the thread? What are your intentions? No, they're obvious. Clearly the game isn't for everyone, but you already stated your opinions on it, and at this point, it seems to me like you're trolling amongst the rest of the discussion.

I'm sorry you feel that way; I thought the world might be in for something other than games coded with more securom than gameplay; intended for valley-girls. Next time I'll consider what seasoned gamers want more hyped-up filler-titles rather than actual artistic productions.

Box version = A pitiful CD-check
Online version (Digital Download) = Securom.

They probably figured "If people can download the game they can activate too". Not sure what's the point of protecting your game on one side and not the other (since only one needs to be cracked for the whole thing to not matter anymore) but meh, whatever, at least it's one more game they released without it.

Sims 3 looks like ass for a reason....they want it to be playable on every teenager's computer stuffed with integrated graphics. Spending extra time on higher quality models and special effects isn't worth it for the slim minority of PC gaming enthusiasts out there who haven't discovered H-Games yet

I'm not sorry at all I feel as I do. I'm only sorry you project your own insecurities about the matter as sorrow onto me. You're doing nothing more than stereotypical bashing, and thanks for proving my points.

For one, as was said, the box version doesn't have securom. The downloadable version apparently does, but the one most people will be getting won't even have it at all. You didn't even know that. It's clear you haven't played the game, nor like the game, and know nothing of it outside the stereotypes, so I ask again, what exactly is your intention in this thread, or is it just the obvious trolling? If the title doesn't interest you, why did you even enter this thread to begin with? I'd really like to know.

Seasoned gamers? Oh, so people who play games that you deem not as games are less of gamers? If you were a "true gamer" as you're projecting it, I'd hope you'd know that any gamer is a gamer. Otherwise, if what you're hinting at and acting as is a "seasoned/true gamer", I'm sure many of the rest of us are glad we aren't "gamers"! You even bring gender into it. You're shaming all gamers everywhere when you act that way.

Lord Zedeck I agree with you 100% And on the one point "true gamers" play games, as in anything they can get their hands on.
And a true gamer doesn't have to be a certain gender or age.

The intention in this thread is pretty clear to me. Hey I've got too much free time, I think i'll start or post in a bashing thread for
any popular game that just came out and argue with the people that like it about it's perceived flaws...

Anyway don't waste you're time, I see the usual suspects in here stirring it up. Same **** different thread.
