Shin Megami Tensei - Imagine Online

Shin Megami Tensei - Imagine English version just started into closed beta. My initial impression is it has a steep learning path since the sum of its system is pretty complex. Combat feels kinda a bit like Mabinogi.

Character creation pretty rudimentary, you get your standard fare of zany hairstyles, all of them for that angsty flair. My guy's called Imobishi. Figures.

The main selling point of the megaten series is this demon stuff. Basically you sweettalk/threaten/bore a demon into binding a contract with you. Then all sort of sh!t happens. You can also fuse multiple demons to form Megazord.

A demon can be summoned to help you face the bored hordes of enemies and make battles a bit easier. You may also try to befriend humans if you're not afraid of being called n00b by them.

Will post up more shots once I install it on my gaming PC. My notebook doesn't even bother to provide shaders for that compulsory bloomed-to-death look in mmorpgs.

You guys got that right. Instead of doing it like other MMOs where they try to drop newbies off at some bright cheery meadow or something, you start off in some boring grey tunnels, and then get into a grey enclave. Exiting that, you reach some brown ruins. In terms of sights, it kinda sucks (atm, maybe just the starting area is that horrid). The only people I can see playing it in the long run are diehard megaten fans.

Will probably go back to my GW and DOMO after the beta finishes.

I forgot to uninstall this last night. It's pretty bad. Combat is bad. Pace is slow. Beta or not, some things aren't going to change.

okay I got into the beta a couple of days ago....man this beta sucks ass compared to the full jp version. Long load times in between areas caused by the slow ass server, during one cutscene the subtitle was still in japanese. I prefer the JP version more than this crap.

I actually tried to play it, but was a huge disappointment.
Having played other Shin Megami Tensei games, I was expecting something... better.

And yes, it's Free to Play with Cash Shop. Same as with every game of Aeria.
