Got the game today. First time it crashed on second cutscene. I tried sli off trick. After that it crashed deep into the second level. Tried "High shadows" instead of super high trick and since then it has been stable. Just finished the level 4 (the Big toad boss). So far I have just two words for this game -

" ABSOLUTELY FANTABULOUS ".

My PC is like the minimum for that game but with those settings is running great(I even clear it already and didn't encounter even one crash or any problem)

Its nothing to do with the ini, as soon as the game tries to render "ingame", it crashes. I've tried almost every permitation of configuration imaginable, and its a no go.

I'm not so sure about that because my pc crash(BSOD) sometimes if I enable some of the options that are too much for him to handle and the problem comes from the video driver...maybe that's the case for you too since if I try to install any of the 16?+ versions I've got all kind of problems related to the video driver so I'm staring with 81.98 and don't have any problems with them(it's extremely rare to experience a problem related to the video driver while I'm with 81.98)

Are you on WinXP or Vista? I've got the game on PC and it runs very nicely in Dx10 on Vista here.

Just got it...(altough, I played it already on PS3)
...very VERY nice PC version indeed...

Here's a hint for you CK : try to deactivate SLI in \DEVILMAYCRY4\nativePC\default.cfg it's ON by default and it made my comp crash on 3D quite early (XP here)... I think the VERY HIGH position in QUALITY enables it automaticly too...

Hope that helps you... you're missing some very nice eye candy...

I just got a small problem with the camera stick (right stick on my PS2 to USB pad), looks like X & Y axis are inverted and I don't seem to be able to fix it in the pad config menu... any help on which ini file to edit...?

How would I go about opening default.cfg? Notepad just gives me some weird symbols.

Also, I too have problems with the right stick of my gamepad(Genius Maxfire G12-U). I can't get my right stick to work with the game(I'm sure it works, though). I know it should be fixed with the Controls(GamePad) option from the Launcher, but I can't make it work.

It's not config.cfg it's config.ini and you can find it in
C:\Documents and Settings\your account name\Local Settings\Application Data\CAPCOM\DEVILMAYCRY4

It's just a normal text file it doesn't contains any weird symbols...and by the way is you change it incorrectly you can experience system crash,the game freeze on some point of loading or the values are changed back to default.

i had the same issue, i fixed it by experimenting with different gamepad profiles (lower left of the gamepad config window)

Which one are you using, and what is set to the lower right stick(I mean, the two buttons on the lower right of the screen, what is set to them)?

for my logitech rumblepad2m im using profile 5, the right analog sticks are configured as Z and RZ axis like with all other apps.

I got my PS3 controller running for DMC4 with the help from Xfire = D

but I used my keyboard more on this game, it gave me total control on all my grabs and combo.
