Since the servers have been down for a few hours, may as well post some screenshots.
Most were taken at 1280x960 with everything maxed except shadows (who were set at "characters only" instead of "everything", it kills my FPS BADLY otherwise, almost halve it), the SS were resized at 1024 to help with the aliasing (I had AAx2 which looks perfect in-game, less in screenshots). The screenshots at the end (volcano area) were taken at 1024 with AAx4 and everything maxed (yes, even Shadows) to try and see if the shadows were THAT important.

Even ho the game was sometime advertised as using DX10, it's not added yet in the game, probably won't be in until September, at least.
The DX10 lighting seems to have some great effect on the environment in the game (based on the few medias shown about it) but I don't think it's so bad that they delayed it, there's already enough for players with DX9.


(I'll give more infos on the game itself once I spend more time playing it, I'll add more SS later)
(am I the only one who look at the fourth picture and imagine the npc thinking "I have THOSE?!")

Vista (YA RLY, tho the difference when I booted in XP and tested the game is negligible, 1-3 fps, it could have been because of a player not being in my vision, or because my camera was tilted in a different way, can't say for sure.
Maybe if I install SP3 I'll see a bigger difference between the perf of XP/Vista once ingame? I'll try later.)

There was a huge bug in one zone, I think they brought the servers down to fix that.

But servers being down on launch day (or following days) is kinda common for a MMO, as far as I've seen. Not usual that a big problem happen and that they bring down the servers to release a patch to fix it.
(I don't remember that bug in the beta tho, maybe it was something they thought was fixed and ended up broken again with the release, saw that happen before)
Otherwise, the game is running a hell of a lot better than it did in the beta before.

I never liked Guild Wars, not even slightly, but AoC is actually pretty fun. (nothing amazing yet, but still pretty fun)

There is indeed tits. Female characters can show their nipples as much as they want, and various mobs (succubus-style) may show nipples too. Haven't met any yet, but I think there was a video showing various monsters and we saw a few for like a split second or whatever.

The game was aiming for a 17+ rating, so you got blood, decapitations and nipples.
All of those are more for the aesthetic (obviously) but decapitations are still fun to see happening.

I call that the Barbie Doll syndrome, little boys trying to look at fake nudity because of curiosity .

A few more screens, they're mostly in the same area tho, I'm still at the first town/beginner area, where we stay until lvl 19/20.

Forgot to say : I got a few trial keys, I could prolly share (but if the demands is too high, I definitely won't have enough, people could probably ask on the AoC forums eventually tho, once they open it to non-customers).

Right now the keys can't be used (AFAIK) since Funcom wants to keep the early phase of the game (like, first week, possibly first month) for customers only, to keep the world less filled to make it easier for people to hunt mobs and to keep the stress on the servers a little lower.

I can understand the idea tho, if every players invited one friend (and we can invite well more than just one) it would increase the stress by a lot, overfill the areas with too many players (it may not be so bad considering how they separate players in different instances if there's too many players, but still...).

But anyway, people who want a trial key and can wait until they are usable (could be a month, no idea) can contact me anyway, I'll see how I can separate them and if I got enough. (people never answer my offers tho, so I guess I'll be fine )

It looks like Gothic, hmm. Game looks good, but dunno it will be good. LoTR was looking good and promising, but WoW eated it.. like all others MMO.

I just stick and continue to play WoW. xD

I wouldn't say WoW ate LOTRO, the game is still doing very good itself.
Sure it doesn't compare to the mammoth that is WoW, but LOTRO is not hiding in the shadow and doesn't have anything to be ashamed of.
LOTRO very nice side is that they're not going slow on the additional content. Every new update that I see makes me think "hot damn, exactly what I would like to see!", sadly as soon as I start playing it, the combat system feels too repetitive and I kinda get bored.
It could be because of my class or the area that I'm in, or both. Sometime there's simply areas in a game that bores you to death, and some that are AWESOME. I should probably at least try to finish the area and reach another one.
