don't expect it to be a sim racer though hehe, but i liked this better than pro street.
Tried to disable all driving assist, didn't changed much of the handling (using a Logitech Rumblepad2 dual analog)
Tried to lower some details a bit and disabled AA, performance didn't changed much looks like im CPU limited again lol.

EDIT:added some pics.
Just tried it online, i just wish people will try to use breaks from time to time lol, i always see em kissing the wall on corners

The game does uses quite a bit of CPU power...
On a C2D at 2.4ghz, it would uses between 75 to 85% CPU power on average.
With the same GPU, I can run it at 1600x1200 with every details to max and AA to "Level 3".
FPS hovers from 28 to 35/40. Obviously way lower if there's a LOT of smoke, but that never happened yet if I wasn't making smoke on purpose.

Anyway, tried to disable post process, seems fine imo, (i dont like it too bright and i dont like too much blur)

I'm downloading it,

I'll see how it runs on my 9600gt and core 2 setup

your graphics card is certainly capable of playing the game,

at stock gpu settings I was getting 30-50 fps constant with 1440x900, all settings max and AA full
(16qsa i think the max setting was?)

the lowest I got was 10 fps when I turned fraps on and crashed tons of cars then doing a burnout

This game is superb -both in term of gameplay and performance.

Mine runs smooth @ 1360*768 (limitation of my LCDTV) everything MAX/Ultra. It seems this game is optimized even better than Dirt, as with Dirt, to reach this level of performance, I need to turn down something.

My spec (I'm still lazy to update my sig).
C2D @3.0Ghz
2 Gb Ram
9600GT @725/1000

Here are screenshots with framerate. Note that no matter how hectic the situation was, framerate never went below 40, which is great!

Don't know if anyone already know this, but there are more than 3 cars for us to drive.

As we all know, we have 3 cars at our disposal -BMW, Silvia, and Mustang. To get 3 more cars, just do the following:
1. For back-up, rename BMW (BMW 320 SI), S15 (Nissan Silvia), and LAC (Chevrolet Optra) to any name you prefer;
2. Make another copy of GTR (Ford Mustang), CAM (Chevrolet Camaro), and CHA (Dodge Challenger) folders.

As you can only have 3 usable cars, you must choose which car you want to use and rename the files and folders respectively.

For example, if I want to replace BMW by Camaro, this is what I need to do:
1. Rename "CAM" folder to BMW;
2. Rename all files starting with "cam" in CAM folder (now renamed to BMW) to bmw, including the files in all sub-directories. For example if original file is CAM_eltoe , such file needs to be changed to BMW_eltoe.

Once every file is changed, enter the game and enjoy 3 more cars.

Thanks LeoNatan from nForce who posted this.

-------------
EDIT:
-------------
Some pics of these extra cars.

I couldn't make the last one to work as texture is all mess-up when I replace the folder.

@John Aiton: yeah, some CPU sensitive games are also affected -_-, thats why AA and AF barely makes any difference in performance...
@PrTv: nice trick, will try it soon...

BTW,recorded the replay using fraps , sorry im not that good of a driver hehe, the game's replay is pretty good imo.
YouTube - Race Driver: GRID demo
Quality is pretty bad on Youtube though

Hey, nice vid.

So this game is playable even when fraps is on ? It seems you get very playable framerate when fraps is recording.

Yeah, playable but in this case i tried to cap the recording framerate @ 35FPS so framerate wont be too variable.

I'm getting around 45-65fps. I think 50fps is average for me@ 1680x1050 with 4xAA and 16xAF and all settings maxed out. I'm not sure if the game is cpu limited because when I OCed it didn't seem to make a difference. Surprising the game actually takes advantage of multiple cores. The game runs wonderfully on a quad, MUCH better than Dirt did.

^maybe it already saturated your CPU to the point that performance increase is already minimal...

I gave this game a go now but this time to play,

I tried the level in seattle with the mustang with all the eye candy up,
it was awweeeessssome. My mouth was on the floor the whole game and adrenaline was pumping as i was weaving in and out of the musclecars

I have to say I hope gran turismo 6 can match these visuals
(gt5 isn't that great compared to race)

I'll post a youtube vid of the race I just did - fun stuff!

it's nice how the 360 pad is programmed in for the game, the rumble was sweeet

Does it still look pretty without the bloom, or is it used to hide PS2-like textures? When I saw the first screens I was really looking forward to this, since they looked stunning, but right now it's another major disappointment again in terms of graphics. It really shows it's the Dirt engine again, bah, their art director should be fired instantly. One thing I don't understand is that they haven't done something like implementing a bloom/hdr intensity slider in the graphics setting. I've seen tech demoes that could do this, why can't the implement it in a game?

oh, it looks pretty. The way the camera jerks when the car does is just magical

indeed, the challenge is good though. Knowing that at any minute 1 spinout could make you lose is good

Meh, dunno. They do uses bloom to hide their shortcoming, which is both good and bad.

I want that spinout to be because of me doing something wrong tho, not because of hellish controls =/. It's kinda lame to lose because of the game handling kinda bad, instead of simply you being bad.
