ShoutWire - How A Gamestop Employee Tried to Screw Over my Girlfriend

I read this and got very pissed. I don't care if this is the only case, this is just wrong. If this happened to the one I love, I'm not sure how I would react. Someone could have their head get ****ed up my the desk because I pushed it into it. Anyone else?

Wow.

Luckily I always go to EB Games. Not sure if they're really any better though.

He should of capped that fools ass and stabbed him as jonc would say. I definitely wouldn't put up with blatant rudeness like that seeing as I have a short fuse and speak my mind without stepping down or feeling intimidated, not to mention I'm quite a big guy, being that besides being just overweight I have a fairly good muscle build as well.

Its the same thing as saying why Futureshop and Bestbuy are always close to each other in Canada when Futureshop are owned by BestBuy

Gamestop, EB Games, and Funcoland are all affiliated. You can buy a game from one store and take it back to the other. Basically they're all the same stores with a different name.

On topic: The guy was an *******. That's a prime example of how to get ****ed up. Being a smartass know it all who thinks he's always right and messing with my girl would make me **** someone up 2x's as bad.

Yeah, I had a Street Fighter Collection I bought as 'new' that was opened and when it was faulty, Capcom refused to honor the warranty because it had the sticker on the case, they didn't accept the fact that Electronics Boutique / Game Stop / Funcoland open at least 1 copy for display so it doesn't get stolen.

I've had a time or two when I bought a game and I didn't get it, but I guess I have a good 'rep' and they've fixed it both times. Still I have to check to make sure they put the games in the cases!

I'm pissed because I got a new released game (that came out this week) today from GameStop and it was already opened and they put the disc in an empty case, supposably for security purposes. Here's a likely scenario, lets say that I wanted to get a game for a friend but it was the wrong one (maybe the wrong sequel or something). He couldn't take it back for the right game because most store policies say that if a game is opened, you can only exchange it for the same exact copy but not a different game. I got the game because it was sold out in all of the other game/electronic stores that I checked in my area. But I don't like the idea of them opening new games because it voids the return policy and decreases the value of games (for those people who are collectors).

I have an old friend who is a manager at a GameStop in another county. He said that they are able to open new games and play them even before the games are released. Some take the game home or they take the game in the back room. He also said that they have a repackager to put it in the package to make it look like new again. I thinks it's BS that they can do that. So when you buy a new game, it really may not be new.

Here I'd have the right to return it, it's a faulty copy, let the store deal with it for they sold it to me and are obliged to sell me a working copy. Just make a ruckus until they'd rather set you out of the store and hand you a new copy.

I can't stand having to buy copies that were opened already, I usually avoid such stores, especially with all these keys and damned copy protections. Let one of these store workers open it and put it in a paper sleeve, and for some reason there's always a way for them to put a big scratch on it, which is what happened to me once. Ever since then I always check the discs of the games I buy at that store.

My main game selling store uses the hard plastic cases that will make an alarm go off if you haven't paid for it. Inside them are sealed copies of the games, it's the perfect way imo. Usually not even the case has scratches on it, and I love it

I've never had any problems with Gamestop....I perfer gamestop over a best buy/circuit city because you can pay for a game in full before it is even released. I did this with Battlefield 2142/Prey/Bioshock and haven't had a problem yet. The only thing this article proves is that the manager hires terrible employees

....although I was asked if I wanted to reserve Starcraft 2 when I picked up Bioshock. But you have to understand....employees are ordered by managers....in which managers are ordered by higher ups....to suggest reserving so early or subscribing to a game magazine. It had nothing to do with the employees being "pushy"

and besides....gamestop gives me a nice automated phone call when their game shipment comes in :3

I've always gone to EB to buy my used games and never had a problem with them. They always let me inspect the game disc first before sealing it in the case too . And EB always gives me a person-to-person phone call when one of my games comes in .

P.S.
EB games I go to also happens to have 2 very hot, young ladies working there .

Well, I find the whole Gamestop thing annoying (the used game/trade in thing, etc), but I've never had any problems. This was probably just some idiot who hates his job, nothing really strange about this situation. When you interact with people in minimum wage, no education jobs, what do you expect?

btw, one time I went to Fry's with a friend and he bought SFA3 for GBA, and someone had stolen the game out of the box! We went back in and explained what happened, they gave us a refund with no problems. Just depends on your luck I guess...

They just seemed happy I was picking up the Fatal Fury Battle Collection for the Playstation 2 they shipped from another Electronics Boutique, they didn't bother me with any pre order requests, but then I seem to get along with the "local" Electronics Boutique employees!

They often show me the CD/DVDs before they put them in the case, the game I got tonight was shrinkwrapped, so it 'probably' was unopened.

All I care is that I can play the game, the Art of fighting anthology *PS2* I bought last month was sealed as well...I was getting the 'only' one but they shipped another unsealed one to the store!

Whats wrong with the whole used game trade-in? That's one of the ways I got some of my PC games without cash or a penny on me. Trade in some old games you don't want for something you do.

I got Halo 2 (PC) this way, which wasn't really worth splurging 49.99 of hard earned money I didn't have at the time on it since it's not that great of a port. I also got a few other games as well this way.

Only thing I'm annoyed or pissed about is they no longer sell used PC games or accept PC games as trade-ins. Also they seem to largely disregard the PC gaming population keeping relatively few PC games in stock compared to console games of which maybe one or two are worth buying.

Yeah, I liked buying used PC games, in fact a large part of my PC and every console library I have is *used*, but I don't care to try to trade in games, they often give less than 30% what they'll charge for it, i.e., give you $3 store credit and resell it for over $10!

But I like buying used, so trade in all those games! I might buy them!

Sorry, but have you ever been to Gamestop? This is what always happens to me:

As soon as I walk in the door, they ask me if I have any used games. As I'm walking in with nothing in my hands, I say no. When I'm checking out, they ask me
