How do you percieve the English?

I was thinking, I know what stereotypes spring to mind when I think about other countries, but I then thought, how do other countries think of good old Blighty? Well, I then thought perhaps I could start a new thread on ngemu and ask people from other countries, well, what do you think of when you think of Britian? Do you see us brits as posh b@stards that walk around with our top hats and monicles, or do you see us as country bumpkins that say ooh, and argh, and bugger mey alot(like me )? Tell me, I must know

Most British people I know are cool and amiable; however, the most racist person I've ever encounter in real life is also a British :/.

I admire the British accent, but its funny that British hate Canadian accents.. I don't really have a "stereotype" on British. I mean British are British and British are humans - just like the rest of us. No better or worse than other races. But thats just me, I'm all about "Yin Yang."

Probably, we've got the BNP , a few of my mates are(Im sort of ashamed to say) members, although not everyone who joins the BNP is a racist b@stard who goes out knifing people, some actually join for the reason that the BNP say they exsist.

Most of the time the chavs are the ones doing the rioting, and lager is also correct, I always hear people I know say "lets go get a lager" not lets go to the pub.

When I think British I think of the English Premier League, I also think positively of the British Empire's colonization of Malaysia because they actuaily had a police force that is not lazy and I am thankful for them because without them there will not be any need to bring in Chinese miners and so I would not exist.

one problem... canada is practically pacifist. as far as my views of england or brits in general is one of mixed feeling.. it's hard for me to explain.. it's incredible the crap that is allowed to go on there but on the other hand I gotta give them props on not being cowards. I would easily fight for/with them should the need arise

Good on ya Seta-San, good to know at least one person in the western world thinks postively of us. The British army is going downhill though, long gone are the days when the british army were feared for their skill in batlle, and thier superior arms, now the enemy laugh to death when the armies sa-80's start to fall apart, but the spirit remains, although, nowadays, most of the people joining are chavs that did sh1t in school and cant do anything else, not quite as impressive as the famous last stand of the royal engineers against the zulu(My dad was in the RE! About a hundred years after this though!!) And you are right, too much gets got away with in england, a life sentence is ridicuolsy short, and most of the time people just get warnings, and the police need guns, I live in village with less than 500 poeple living in it, and a cop got hacked to death with a machete in a farm about ten minutes from where I live! WHOA, sorry to rant on about what is wrong with my country, but I cant help it...

I think I will turn this into a pacifism vs militantism thread.

I think the best security is not having the most powerful army but having no enemies to fight in the first place, after all there have no major acts of terrorism in Canada and I don't think anyone is under the banner of "Death to Canada".

And I find the anti-French attitude a little weird considering that without them there will not be a US, they were the ones who stopped the British fleet in the war of independence and they gave the Statue of Liberty to the US also the image of cowardice that you have of them during WW2 is also a little strange too since they had a French resistance because the bulk of their army was already crushed by the Germans long before the US was involved and they had to resort to asymmetrical warfare in the shadows.
