I almost got into a car crash FIVE times in a roll.

Normally I would be bringing you the experiences of others but this time I am talking about my experience of avoiding six traffic accidents over the course of the last two hours.

I was driving on the road at night about two hours ago and the first almost accident was a guy in an SUV changing lanes into my lane and entered into the lane less than one meter away from me, the moment he entered the lane his car was still at an angle and he decided to turn in to a side junction without using his signal lights, this meant that he was turning into the lane while I was about half a meter away still slowing down to give some space between him and me, I almost hit him but I am thankful that my car's breaks are somewhat overpowered.

The second and third incident are almost identical and it involves me traveling on the side lane at the speed limit, the problem comes from the SUVs in both instances suddenly coming out and stopping at a side junction exit with half their cars on my lane on the road while I was going 45Mph and I was too close for my breaks to work, I am glad that my reaction time was fast enough for me to quickly get out of the way.

The forth instance is at a traffic light, I was going to make a left turn and only the people on the single left turn lane can turn left, the guy in an SUV suddenly decided that he wanted to turn left and I was going for the right most lane on the road I was turning into, the guy almost sideswiped me, in this case it was my natural reaction to press the breaks that saved me from my Auto insurer.

The next incident is at a junction without a traffic light, normally it was my right of way but sometimes we let people trying to go across the road to go first, there was an SUV on the lane to my left and the road is slightly turning to the left so I can't see if there are cars in front of him or is he letting someone go across the road as I have a Honda Accord while he is in some over sized Ford truck and he was letting someone in a sedan trough, I almost hit the sedan but managed to stop right before hitting him when the front of his car came into view but only by less than 25cm.

I really hate SUVs, they are inefficient, heavy, so big that they block my view of everything around them and worse of all most of the drivers don't seem to realize how big their cars actually are.

5 incidents without 2 hours and all SUVs. WOW! One small problem though, when you turn left during your fourth incident (or any turn in general), you are to turn into the lane closest to you. In this case you weren't suppose to turn to the right most lane. However even if you do get into that accident, it would be the SUV's fault.

This could also mean that this year would be luck for you.

Thumbs down

We have the same problem down here with the Landcruiser morons in the city, including driving in the tram only zones which I've seen before. Just what we all want, then Nissan advertises their new Murano - "the AWD for the city", more like Morono!

suv's suck. they block my view, are unnescesarily large and friggin' ugly.
Besides, what the hell does everyone need an suv for in NL? Oh yeah, "better view on the road"... they think. But that's just because your view gets blocked in a normal car because too many people have those big stinkin' ugly wannabe-jeeps.

Hehe, if you get in to a traffic accident with a SUV your most likely to get out of it with less injuries than the normal car

And there aren't that many SUV in holland. Atleast not yet.

On the other hand SUVs are more prone to get into a car accident, they are top heavy and large, also they are heavy and all that energy has to go somewhere right?
