@xxxHolic: Don't count on a second season, since the first one was just a butchered version by Gonzo which went astray from the manga original plot and ended with something not even them were able to give closure to. The OVA's are a remake, answering Radix865, but this time the story will be absolutely faithful to the manga. To give you a reference point, it will start being different after the Valentine brothers arc. So I guess you can expect the answer to your questions in the OVA's xxxHolic.

And Radix865, while not all remake's are worth, there are some that are, like Kanon 2006 when compared to Kanon

I guess they are worth, but if you start watching them now, you'll have to wait long for the next ones. But they are not quite a remake, there are differences. Have fun xD

Damn I am so disappointed by that.

reason I want helsing season 2 so bad is that I found that the OVA lost its

'seriousness' by having that vampire girl (can't think of her name) act kinda stupid.

You know the cliche'd Japanese stuff like 'sweat dripping form forehead' etc.

It just annoyed me how an 'mature' anime like hellsing went from mature (series) to less mature (OVA)

It's Seras Victoria. There are other serious series about vampires like Shingetsutan Tsukihime and Black Blood Brothers (although this one has some funny parts)

Well... if they follow the actual original material (the manga) to the letter, it shouldn't be that bad. In fact most of the hardcore Hellsing fans just imagine the first series never existed for the unfathomable sin of deviating from the manga story

"You know the cliche'd Japanese stuff like 'sweat dripping form forehead' etc."

In the manga, we often see such stuff, along with super-deformed characters in non-serious sequences. It's the anime series that totally removed them

There are manga translations of most mangas out there on the net, search for them, I guess it's against the rules to point them out

Oh, so its a remake, but after the valentinos, instead of going to ingocnito(or smt.) crap it starts a new different arc? Huh, well might be worth looking into...

BTW what's with Ergo Proxy, I mean I have them all but... uhh, is it originating from a manga as well? The whole serie isn't the most self-explaining...

Done watching Mai-Hime. Got so hooked up i watched 8 Episodes today...

Overall i didn't had to lower my expectations for the ending. I was quite satisfied with it. Though the final bad guy went down a bit to easy. But mmm i guess that's being made up by the awesome crew which even has lesbians Though they never explained why Shizuru she likes Natsuki so much. But ugh... Shizuru battle stance kicks ass I'm such a sucker for fanservice.

You sure scared me there Proto, Thought it would be as horrible and confusing as Evangelion. But i really liked the way the anime went. I really enjoyed it. The anime manage to make me laugh and feel sad, even a stone cold bastard like me felt sad!! Can you explain what you didn't like about Mai-Hime? Afcourse something where a bit odd, like all hime and there beloved once coming back to life. But ugh. I just took the things for granted and look at the good things.

Really enjoyable. Would really recommend it to anyway

Next on the list Kanon 2006.
Mmm just notice last episode of it got released yesterday.

If you liked GANTZ I suggest you to watch Red Garden. At the start the plots are quite similar in many ways, however it has its own identity while retaining many of the things one can find enjoyable in Gantz

Spoiler:
Maybe because its ending is the dictionary definition of what a deux ex machina is

Even though it doesn't close all the loose ends, it is quite satisfactory, so you may watch it without fear

edit: http://anidb.info/perl-bin/animedb.p...anime&aid=4522

Well I may as well ask for it here. I am looking for something on the lines of Juuni Kokki, Legend of the Galactic Heroes or Simoun. That is, an epic story with a huge cast of well developed characters with a focus on developing the characters and their relationships well. Things like Mai-Otome and My-Hime don't exactly apply since the story is rather focused around a certain event, whereas in the former there is a huge central point that spawns countless events that move the characters and develop them. Gundam Seed and Destiny were more focused on the story than the characters, so while I liked it it is not exactly what I am looking for. I would appreciate if someone could direct me to some good series that meets my picky guidelines

If you specify some genre lines, we might help you xD
If you like galatic things try Lost Universe or Vandread (this last one isn't a big hit... if you see what I mean...)

There isn't a specific genre for what I am searching though. Maybe if you merged epic, drama, with character-driven series.

Hmm... in Vandread the characters where a little bland. While they evolved, they were just jumping from one stereotype to another. Also, maybe what I am searching is in a more serious note, since I felt Vandread to go a little heavy on the comedy at times. Moreover, while it indeed had a big cast, only the main ones were seriously developed, while the other ones where more or less neglected. I will look at Lost Universe though.

Another example of something I liked was Crest and Banner of the Stars.
