Yeah it's definately the humour, which is why as I said innuendo and suggestion is much better than actually showing anything, it's much more humorous.

I really see your point Caldron, so it means in all those anime you don't enjoy any of the cute girls showing off their underwear, getting into awkward position bouncing there breast or suggestive dialogues? In ( almost ) every anime there is some of that stuff, personaly I do enjoy it though... so I willingly admit to being a pervert. OO and like SCHUMI said if it is just for joking... no point in showing.

Nah, do you know how many viewers they get just for having these kind of scenes? they put them their to get people watching of course. Not to mention that all the big animies have hentai spin-offs as other series or games. There is a huge huge huge market for this kind of thing in Japan, I once went to a shop in Akihabara 6 floors, hentai/sexy cosplay/tools/underwear/costumes just about everything... you can find a hentai spin-off to almost every anime there... I even found school rumble hentai game ( No I didn't buy anything I am not that perverted! :P )

... I think anime has a dire future when even the fans think series are all about the fan service

Personally I loahe, hate and have convulsions everytime anything slightly resembling fanservice appears on the screen... well maybe I can handle it to a point, but my tolerance level is pretty low. There are plenty of series that don't rely on it, that have a minimal quantity or have nothing that all, and that happen to be pretty much some of my favorites. planetes, twin spica, mushishi, kino no tabi, ghost hound. There are tons of series that rely more in the artwork, the beautiful story, the masterful mix of sounds, the witty BGM... let's not say that any anime lover equates to a pervert please -_-

Lol Proto, you must love Tenchi Muyou GXP.

I must admit though I prefer series without fan service and all my favourite series don't have any or at least very little (so little that I have forgotten about it).

Hmm I just came across something interesting....I watched an epsiode of DB with something called an InoShikaChou...they that is also name given to one of the teams in Naruto...so that makes me wonder...any special meaning to that word or those words?

I am glad to hear there are some none perverted watches, who don't like this sort of thing! It looks like you are a true gentleman Proto! I've said I like this kind of thing, but sometimes it is completely uncalled for and doesn't fit into the story! and acctually kind of ruins the anime!

hmm, are those older series Proto?? it looks like in the newer ones there is more and more of this kind of stuff, while the older ones are spared from it.

I don't think the fact that you watch anime means you are a pervert, I admit that I'm pretty perverted though. When compared to the direction the west is going(no violence, not any kind of hints of sex or sexualism, no cursing etc.) I think its sort of more normal than what we have here in western world... not perveted, we're just been brainwashed to think it is!

About fanservice, I read a Neon Genesis Evangelion doujinshi(that wasn't much of a doujinshi, remove the sex scenes and you have about everything you liked left ) that I found from the net, didn't even know it was doujinshi until I had read it for a while! I think it was called Re-Take or smt... It actually had a good and fitting story. Not sure if it was fanmade, though...

Hmm... Ghost Hound is a series that was launched this year by IG Animation studio, the same guys who did Ghost in the Shell (another series with little fanservice). Overall, IG series are pretty fanservice safe. (another example being Seirei no Moribito, which has one single scene in the whole series I think).

The rest of the series are not really old, they are mostly from this century. There are of course example of old series that are quite serious and have no fanservice like Legend of the Galactic Heroes, and there are 80's series that already show how fanservice was back then, like Gainax's Gunbuster.

I watched the whole Elfen Lied in a night long ago. I wasn't very pleased with some things, but I guess it's among my favourites. Elfen Lied is possessed by a very interesting and shocking story. "for the first time" you mean you didn't like it before?

BTW, I just watched the RAW of the first chapter of ARIA the ORIGINATION. As always, not only does ARIA manages to calm me with the relaxing atmosphere it creates, but also it boosts my moral since its so slow paced it is easy to follow the Japanese

The first episode of Gunslinger Girl 2nd season was a little underwhelming but nothing too big. The animation isn't as good as the previous season, and the color palette is a little too bright, but the story and the scrip may make up for it, since the upcoming material is qutie good. The sound direction is worth noticing.

This week's CLANNAD episode was quite good too, albeit I'm not managing to feel as much for Kotomi as I did for Fuuko the characyer dynamics are still top notch. Shana's ep 13 on the other hand was quite action packed, and the resolutiion seemed a little bit forced but let's see what lies in store for us next

Was hoping to post when i got more info. But so far no group has jumped on Shigofumi yet. So no opinion about that anime so far.

First episode of True Tears was quite good imo. Didn't had much expectations of it. But so far i like the characters. Just the male protagonist that could of been a bit better as he feels really mainstream. But the other are interesting and seems like they got a interesting pass to them to.

Rosario + Vampire. not sure if i already gave my opinion about it here. But i like the first episode of it. Not much bad to say about it. Even though i see people complain about a overdoses of pantsu shots. But that didn't bothered me.

Clannad status.. episode 8... still cba watching it ^.^ From what i read next arc is Kotomi arc? Not to interested in here either. But meh... couldn't find a liking to Fuuko either.

Shakugan no Shana. Only saw up to episode 11.
Spoiler:
So Pheles has a infinity amount of power existence... and yet she manages to lose... Something doesn't feel right to me about that. But aah heck. Lets see how that goes.

Gundam 00. Only up to 12. Haven't saw this week episode. But i like it so far. At least we are spared from the masked villain so far

Finished Black Lagoon. And He is my Master.
Hate Loli? Boring fanservice? Avoid He is my Master. Was quite boring for me. And meh... i expected better. But luckily it's over. Black Lagoon was quite good imo. Revy is badass. And the underworld mood to it was quite nice. A nice change from the usual kawaii school girls and other romance and stuff.

Started with Scrapped Princess and Final Approach.

Scrapped Princess is really nice. I like it a lot so far. I love the magic/knights Middle Ages theme of it. Though Pacifica acts a bit to spoiled for my liking. But nothing to make me hate her.

Final Approach. Is well. Ok so far. Not super but not bad either.

And meh, i heard the first episode of ORIGINATION won't be subbed till a cd of Aria is out for the uhu intro something. Can't remember to well. But guess it will take a week or two.

I have only watched the first 2 episodes of Gundam 00 and to me at least it looks like a step back fron SEED and SEED Destiny.

It reminds me of Wing, but a more open and explained approach, but also a little jumbled up.

...but there's just something about it that makes it feel a little non-Gundam...not to mention the action has taken a giant leap backwards..although I guess that can still improve later on...it could just be the lack of Red I suppose...the colours all seem weaker...it's like there is some sort of Anti-action and anti-vibrance filter over the whole episode.

Scrapped princess... That's a good anime, especially the twists at the end.

Yesterdays bleach continued to go almost nowhere, why can't they bring on the real villains, there are 13 of them! And I seriously hate the "last time on bleach:" crap that takes 1/6 of the episode!!!

Clannad e13 was pretty good, I like kotomi arc more than the fuuko arc actually... Even though fuuko was more interesting with the spacing out things and stuff... I like the twist kotomi arc has.

Higurashi, last story left... Meakashi-hen was great!(or the eye opening chapter in english) I really liked how it ended. Just 5 episodes and I can start watching the sequel...

PS: Are any of the higurashi games ported to europe or US?

Really? To me it always seemed as if Bones ran out of episodes. Which is characteristical of their productions IMO. RahXephon, Scrapped Princess, Wolf's Rain, Full Metal Alchemist are all BONES series that just demonstrate that they are weak at making endings

Full metal alchemist had a good ending I think, both of them actually(qonqueror of shambala had good too)... Wolf's rain had a pretty interesting one and as I said I liked the ending in scrapped princess. RahXephon seemed bad so I never watched it till the end, that and I saw only couple of episodes at my friends place so I can't say if it has a bad ending or not... But these are individual opinions, like the fact that some people get disturbed by little girls panties

... good endings? Aren't they all a variation of the same Deus ex machina, that is

BONE's endings. Don't highlight if you haven't seen all Scrapped Princess, FMA, Wolf's Rain and RahXephon
Spoiler:

A whole new wooooooolrd. In Wolf Rain's case, the world was practically reseted and made the story senseless. In Scrapped Princess they made Pacifica a God for all that matters and resolved the problems in an instant. Not to mention that they threw my favorite character Cz, out of the windows neglecting all her development. And the final battles were nothing short of unsatisfying. Same with RahXephon, the ending was nothing short of another deus ex machina similar to that in Wolf's Rain. FMA ending wasn't bad, but it was just mediocre. It seemed to be good because frankly the series was seriously going downhill (wft? Archernator?) at the end, and the ending more or less saved some face, however the resolution wasn't that good. The ongoing manga is a much better representation of the story IMHO).
