Studio Ghibli (Or more accurately, Hayao Miyazaki) do have great movies. Excellent movies in fact, it really works your imagination and just pulls you into the movie, backed up with amazing animation and music. But I kind of have to agree with Caldron. I love all their movies, but they don't strike me to watch them over and over again, just every couple years or so really . Laputa is my favourite, followed by Spirited Away then Nausicaa.

And please, no one mention Grave of Fireflies ever again...just when I stopped remembering about it and all its sad moments someone had to mention it again .

The only time anime makes me really really sad is at the end of a good series... because I'll know there is no more episode

I guess we got very different tastes, since I found Crest of the Stars to be one of the best series I've ever seen. At least, the one with the most replayability factor for me. I can see it over and over and never get tired. The ever growing relationship between jinto and Lafiel throughout the 4 seasons is one of the best developed relationships among all the anime series I've seen

Banner of the Stars (the second season) is more plot oriented that character oriented, something I didn't quite liked but since it has a lot more battles you might find it interesting.

Banner of the Stars 2 (the 3rd season) us more character oriented, and is the one where we get the most insight on Lafiel and Jinto personality, and where their characters grows to the point where it justifies the legend it has created on Japan (this series and the book it is based on is regarded as some of the best of their type in their country of origin)

Really, I think you are one of the first persons I've found who didn't like it. I've recommend you to watch a little more, but if you haven't liked it up to know maybe it just isn't for you. A shame really

Others>>>>>>>> Crest of the Stars

SAC as in Stand Alone Complex?

Have you seen the rest of the GITS movies and OVA's? What is that you like about SAC and Cowboy Bebop? Is it the dystopian and futuristic nature? If so you might like stuff like Planetes and Lain...

As far as Cowboy Bebop goes, its Spike and Ed. I did like Lain, and I like Battle Programmer Shirase. As you might guess, my favorite character in SAC was The Laughing man.

The music in these was also a huge turn on.

I also like Alucard from Hellsing, but then again I've always liked characters like that, Vincent(FFVII, DC, Advent children), Kaze(FFU, while the series were pretty bad, he was cool)...

Just done watching Kanon 2006 last night. But a few things confused me. So if anyone that is done watching kanon could explain it to me.
1.
Spoiler:

What was the wish ayu made? At the moment that she made her final third wish you hear the wind and not hear what she said. And after that she was gone. Or was the last wish actually what Shiori said during last episode?

2.
Spoiler:

She is who's sister? I know she is the girl Yuuichi looked up to as a child and told the story to Makoto when he was playing with her when she was a fox. So uuh who is Sawatari? i thought the only girl that went by that name was Makoto. But she is gone and err she was the fox Yuuichi saved.

Btw this is the best thing i saw till so far in a anime. That huge anteater rocks

http://i150.photobucket.com/albums/s...0326162508.jpg

Just seeing that makes me chuckle. Its so awesome and so cute haha

And my impression of kanon 2006 was at start it was very confusing. Don't know if it is because i haven't watched the original Kanon. But the first 8 episodes or so where quite confusing with odd girls saying UGUU, AUUU and AHAHAA and things like that. Though i still say Misuzu GAO was the best :P
But after a few more episodes it does pick up and get more interesting. Overall i enjoyed this anime. Though not as great as i expected. But definitely didn't disappointed me.

Hope they ditch Haruhi for Clannad. (Can feel the zerg of angry Haruhi fans coming )
Spoiler:
Almost cried when Nayuki mom got in hospital!! noes Though tears never came.

Also started watching Aria the Animation. Impressive that it manage to make a anime with such a story fun to watch. Only saw 2 episodes. But i enjoyed them.

@1:
Spoiler:
Even in the game Ayu's last wish was open to interpretation, I guess you could take Shiori's to be KyoAni's. But yeah, it would seem that his last wish was for Yuiichi to be happy. For him being happy everyone around him had to be happy, so it turned into a macro-wish of sorts.

@2
Spoiler:
The sister part was due to a bad translation. She was the original Sawatari Makoto that Yuiichi looked up when he was a child. Remember that fox's Makoto took up on that name and shape based on what Yuiichi told her when she was a cub. In a sense it was a hommage to the Makoto's fans, since out of all the girls she was the only one that couldn't appear at the end no matter what, except for dreams and memories

Nah it's not really necessary. It looks so confusing in the first episodes because it is full of foreshadowing. I bet that when you rewatch it you will find mean to all the subtle hints that were thrown throughout the series (Nayuki's nervousness when she asked Yuiichi if she remembered her name, among others.)

For now we'll have to settle for Lucky Star An Azumanga-Daioh/School Rumble esque series, but this time animated by the gods at KyoAni

PS: You can find more interpretations for the ending and for the entire series here and here

Well, I just finished reading the Mai-Otome manga and I have to say, like Mai-Hime, I preffer it over the anime counterpart. Again, the storyline is quite different from it's animation counterpart, but it has all the characters and the art is a step up from the Mai-Hime manga. Plus, a lot more comedy and ecchi scenes in the manga, which I always enjoy reading .

Ah thanks for explaining it. Makes alot more sense that way.

Il be looking forward to the Lucky star thing than. Havent heard to much publicity about it though. But if it is sort like Azumanga daioh and School rumble its gone be awesome.

Btw proto, could you explain me about the Clock and Nayuki sleep disorder?
Spoiler:
After reading somethings on Animesuki they mentioned the clock thing alot. But what was the deal with the clock scene being left out? And what was the reason for nayuki sleep disorder?

@clock scene

Spoiler:
the infamous clock scene refers to one of the last events in the Nayuki route in the game. Basically, using the talking clock Nayuki recorded all the feelings she had for Yuiichi, and all the things she couldn't say to him in person, waiting for him to hear it. This pretty much represented the climax of the Nayuki's route on the Kanon game. Why was it important? Unlike Air, where Misuzu's route is clearly the real ending, in Kanon the real ending is pretty much unclear between Ayu and Nayuki. However, every Kanon adaptation that has existed so far has went for the Ayu's route, leaving the Nayuki's fans a little enraged.

There is an ongoing joke that the Clannad announcement was more of a way from KyoAni to appease the raging Nayuki fans that wanted to murder them

@Sleeping disorder

Spoiler:
This was another point in the Nayuki route that was unfortunately left out in KyoAni's adaptation. Basically, Nayuki's sleepiness mode is a defense system for escaping from reality. She falls into it whenever Yuiichi ignores her, neglects her, mistreats her. In the game, Nayuki is basically obsessed with Yuiichi, to the point that she has to use this defense mechanism at every little thing Yuiichi does to her. One of the important things at the end of Nayuki's route was how she was able to come in terms with reality, get over with her obsession and transforming it into a more sane love, and getting over her sleepiness habit.

All in all, Nayuki's reconciliation meeting with Yuiichi in the series was the top moment for me (followed by Shiori's confession and goodbye, Ayu's farewell,last wish and subsequent scenes; Mai's ball room dance battle and Makoto's wedding), so I'm not that enraged over the little things that were missed from Nayuki's route, and most people seem to think that way...
