@Milano, about Higurashi.

mild spoiler, just a personal interpretation

Spoiler:

The comic relief and interaction character sections are not needless or filler at all. They are absolutely necessary to establish the intricate character relationship that exist between our protagonists. It is because of those build ups that the later parts aquire more meaning. And it is because in the end Higurashi is not about a mistery, about horror, or about gore. But most of all Higurashi is initially a tragedy, and later a story about redemption and a fight against destiny.

Well we are sure we will be able to get our best place ever this year, however it is too early too promise anything. Right now I'm enjoying Suzhou, and the extremely high acquisitive value the peso has over here. Heck, I'm staying in a 5 star hotel for US$60 a night.
@cottonvibes, about Hikaru no go.

Spoiler:

Remember that once Sai said that just as he had been there for Hikaru, Hikaru would be there for another person. And that other person would be there to teach go to yet another one. He was there not to achieve the hand of god, or to create the best possible player, but to continue the endless road of go. To connect the distant past with the distant future. In the words of the own manga, something not unique to Hikaru, or to go players, but to everyone in this world

proto, why are you still talking about Hikaru no go

but I guess thats true, however Sai's own goal was to achieve the hand of God.
At the end, he later learned his true purpose for being with Hikaru wasn't for his own motifs, but to introduce Go to Hikaru.

I just wish they played the Divine Move once in the show since they kept talking about it.

Also, if you look at the Anime's first episodes, it says that Sai's goal was to "Master the Hand of God"

(skip past the beginning notes, and It says it right before the opening-music plays)

It is true that these games or filler situations as I adressed them were required to establish the tension of the arc and character relationships. However with the course of the first season it became a bit formulaic.

Spoiler:

Most of the time it was
1. Club assemblies
2. They engage an activity
3. A character starts acting differently or weird, usually silent and distracted
4. The rest of the characters worry

This might be innacurate but it was what I felt at the end. Higurashi wasn't an anime that disappointed me. I did enjoy the ending and the last arc of season one was quite interesting. However this does not overshadow the fact that I got bored midway through the series, especially in the comic relief scenes.

As a sidenote, I dropped Code Geass R2 a while ago... Got bored, and the story just went out there and now that one of you spoiled the death of shirley I was right about dropping it. Its not really bad anime but mechas just don't humor me...

As I already mentioned TWICE, I started watching the third season of Zero No Tsukaima, Princess No Rondo. But as nobody gives a flying ****, I'll talk about something else I also dropped soul eater and started reading the manga instead as the anime is just pain to watch as its so slow. Plus my HD is overflooding with anime...

Edit(not double posting like some noobs): Started watching Koihime Musou... What can I say about the first episode... Chicks with spears(well most of them are wielding spears it seems) saving the ancient inspired world I guess. Oh, and ecchi Didn't seem too bad but I'll keep watching when the next ep comes out, its brand new anime you see.

Never seen, well never heard of it... Wait till some other "regulars" check in...

Started Blade Of The Immortal, seems kind of nice... By the looks of it it could have potential, but we'll see if they use it

Also I'm wondeering something... (Big spoiler on Zero No Tsukaima second season)

Spoiler:
Well now that the third season started it seems strange, Saito and Louise married at the end of the second season but now in third it seems it never happened... Especially as Louise was worrying if Saito has any reason to stay with her, damn that was cheesy....

But on other matters I like how Saito is actually the proactive one, unlike normally the males seem to be scared of the girls or something... BTW, anyone else seeing any resemblence to Hayate No Gotoku??? Louise even has the same voice actor as Nagi in Hayate.

Dr.Slump. Toriyama's work that made him a star in the mangaka world. Everyone in Japan probably knows of the manga, even those old politicians in the Diet building. Dragon Ball is probably what he's best known for outside of Japan, but many people consider Dr.Slump his greatest work. I know I do

Well sorry for living in a country where not a lot of japanese anime have surfaced until last few years... Even dragonball didn't make an appearance till few years ago, and even that was Dragonball Z, I'm not even sure if the original has ever aired here...
Strangely anime like Silverfang(or nagareboshigin, shut up if I mispelled it, the four pieced movie version, not the 25 episode original.) did make an appearance and all kids of my age (-/+5 years) have seen it, other than that is of course pokemon but that started at the end of 90's I think... Hmm, I guess that's it for pre-millenium anime in finland. Oh, of course there have been some on cable and satellite channels but only rich or "show off" people had those!

Hmm, rahXephon... I think I've seen couple of episodes. Was it the one with a lot of NGE ripoffs, really cliched 3-part combination mecha with pilots having what-seemed-to-be-an-orgasm every time the pieces "united", and if I remember it right the protagonist was mad barbaric red headed dude named/called Apollo??? Or am I thinking of some other anime?

Well you are right about the NGE ripoff part...

As for Dr.Slump...it makes a cameo appearance in Dragonball...

and if you heard of Dragonball you have heard of Akira Toriyama...and if you have heard of him then you should vaguely know his works.

Outlaw is your typical action sci-fi anime. RaXephon does feel like an NGE rip off at times, but it's still a good watch. X TV though, that series just full of pure awesomeness. Of course there are some near yaoi moments (this IS Clamp we're talking about ) but the animation, music, sound, voice acting, music, story and music are all top notch .

P.S.
Yes, the music rocks. It's one of the few OSTs that I actually ordered from Japan...

I haven't seen orginal Dragonball!

And I sure hell haven't heard of that guy, I don't really like Dragonball if you remember. So why should I care what's the name of the guy who made it... ...Other than to stay away from his work!

Its illegal to redistribute copyrighted material of ANY sort. That includes japanese anime. It doesn't matter if its licensed or not. Chances are though you won't get in trouble for it since companies are still helpless with the time delays that happen when an anime is released a year before it hits foreign soil.
You'll get a letter requesting that you stop at worst..

I think the best way would be for companies to co-operate with the fan-subbers and offer to sell the best fan-subbed versions from their webpage. The fan subber does it because they are fans right? what better to do for a fan than to contribute to the series they love ?
If they wanted to do that they would. Gonzo seems to have taken the hint. They release blassreiter and tower of druaga(awaiting second season) directly to crunchyroll and youtube(there partnered with crunchyroll(online anime streaming sitE)} with official subtitles. The streams are what you can expect from flash player but they offer the episodes for high quality download at a fee. A newer show they released has episode only available for short amount of time after there airtime. Anyone else gonna watch the avatar movie today? I know i went from like episode 5 to the countdown to the comet episode but Its interesting enough. 0.0

I started watching RahXephon yesterday...and I also watched one episode of Outlaw Star...but I don't think I am quite in the right mood though to watch Outlaw Star at the moment so I will rather watch RahXephon...I also think I should be saving X for later...

Anyways after watching the first ep I like it...as far as NGE clones go I don't think it will surpass DUAL - A Parallel trouble adventure (which was hillarious)...or Nadesico (which I still need to watch...but the intro is a blatant clone at least)...but it should still surpass the original quite easily :P...
Anyways sofar it's not quite getting the reaction from me it wants...instead of saying cool and eagerly awaiting what happens next I am sitting there lolling my a$$ off at the NGE similarities and can't wait to see what future lulz it will give me.
