What's your opinion on goa?

I'm kinda interested if anyone here shares my love to goa and goa parties. To be truthful it's even more than love.. can't explain it actually with words but i think if people here like it they kinda unterstand what i mean. So what's your opinion on goa music, parties and dancing?
Don't know what goa is?

You can call it that if you want. It's an outdoor goa party somewhere in austria. Goa's usually take place somewhere in nature. There are ofcourse also a lot of indoor goa's but that'snot the same thing. Goa's also go for about2-3 days depending on the party of course. One of the biggest events is the so called Boom Festival and this year this meant 7 days non stop party

It's a thing where people listen to music in the middle of nowhere.

Goa is the music you're listening to . The difference between other music is the base. It's not like in other electric music styles only *bam* *bam* it's more like *badabam* *badabam*. Also the way you move to this music is very different to for example trance, techno, acid or house. Pretty unique, i simply love.

So being out in the middle of nowhere has nothing to do with it?

Well, yeah people tend to consume quite a lot on such parties but there are quite some sober people too (like me). But then again most people don't take pills on these parties, more psychedelic stuff. But that's not the thing.

Nothing more than a basic trance song to me, listened to it for years after having heard all the samples the DJs/Producers use for their songs. Used to go to one of those parties as well, good times. 6 tents each with its own style.

That particular song isn't that good anyway. It was just a youtube video i found randomly and it shows what what a goa party is .

There's this 'beach' party at the bank of the river Lek (the dutch part of the Rhine), called Riverdance, or Diverrance last year (difference). It usually has a really good lineup including one of the local djs who kicks ass.

Went there in 2003, 04 and 05, and the first two times we went by bike. Such a brilliant experience going there as a 16 year, hearing the music in the distance and then suddenly seeing the tents from the top of a dike while drinking booze

The morning after the 04 party I almost fell to the floor when I got out of bed. I still remember feeling my legs cramp up while asleep, horrible pain indicating you had a good night lol. The year thereafter was no different. Good thing about the event is that it's from noon to midnight, rather than the other way around.

Also in 04 I almost overslept because of the party the night before. Woke up at 11 with a terrible hangover, had a shower, got on the bike to a friend, and had some liquid breakfast at his place at 2: Safari - Coke

Best thing about such parties is that you see a lot of familiar faces and the atmosphere is very relaxed, no fighting dispite drugs and alcohol. Must be the same at those GOA parties

You've just explained a goa party dude . I guess you just didn't hear the difference . These kind of parties are kinda having a real boom around here. A lot of people have started making such parties and in my corner i can choose between around of these parties without having to drive longer than an hour. The only problem is that it's too cold outside atm. But i think/hope this winter won't last long and then it'll start again.

edit:
Just found another freaky goa video on youtube i wanted to share:

(just wait till 1:30)

On goa parties are a lot of people like these doing acrobatic stuff and playing with all kinds of accesoires and stuff, to me all this makes an atmosphere of a "middle-age gipsy caravan" wich travels around and makes parties and fires and everything. The quality in this music isn't that good and this is the kind of goa (there are differences) i'm no so much into. It's called psy (or psychedelic) goa and even though it still has the typical goa base (*ramtata**ramtata*) it also has a lot of flashy high tones. The name psy goa describes it pretty well. The goa you hear in the first post i made in this thread is called progressive goa (my favourite) and it's more easy going and building up, just the way i love it . Don't get me wrong it's not that i don't like psy goa at all, it depends on my mood/the party and especialy if/how the dj's make their high points and chill moments. Oh btw this video here shows the biggest european goa event: the boom festival 2006 in portugal. Sadly i wasn't able to go there this year but the next year's just ahead

Well if your song is anything to go by, even though crappy compared to others, it's still the same beat. In other words: You can do the same dance at my party like you do at yours

Well pretty much that is exactly the point, you can dance to goa like to any other kind of electric music, but there are a lot of very unique goa movements that work out only with this kind of music. It's a little freaky/mystique/funny way of moving and dancing. Not really explain/describeable. If you've seen it, you know it
