lol video games and watching tv do damage your studying, but for different reasons, the reason being its a distraction rather than the actual content, so you spend less time doing your studying.

saying it rotts your mind is pretty much bull

Well watching TV/Playing games is done by inherintly lazy students anyway (aka me). No, it makes perfect sense if kids are staying up late watching trashy TV *cough* Big Brother Uncut *cough* they probably will start doing worse at school...

I personally like this quote "Children whose parents allowed them to watch R-rated movies also did worse in class". WELL NO DUH! Why are they letting them watch R rated movies while doing homework. BTW: I was involved in some research in my lifetime and let me just tell you alot of it is bull****. Also in the same paragraph "The findings are based on a survey of 4,500 students in 15 New Hampshire and Vermont middle schools." And this is supposed to represent all of north america?

and the rest of the world in general?
of bloody course it affects school performance when the average students never does ANYTHING but babble at school and play games/tv at home.
I'd say first mentioned is the biggest danger, i don't do a shred homework but i still never get anything below 3 in grades (on a scale from 1-6 where 6 is best), while the others around me sometimes spend two-three hours doing homework everyday and get top grades of 3!

yeah see the thing is you cant do well on homework without paying attention in class, video games cant be the culprit on that because they arnt allowed in school, distractions like talking on cell phones, friends and all that **** is what affects your performace. it varies from school to school but back in my hs days cell phones with students was a serious problem due to texting and stuff

Middle school students who watch TV or play video games during the week do worse in school, a new study finds, but weekend viewing and gaming doesn't affect school performance much.
I can't disagree. It always happen in our high school
