Registry
When I went to add/remove today, very few programs where there, I have several dozen programs. I think the data has literally corrupted from the registry, as when I went to set firefox as my default browser in program access/defualts it displayed something like "cannot find HKEY local/bla/bla/bla", you know those registry addresses? I'm gonna download a registry fixer, but if it's still fooked, then I'll just re-install windows instead of ghosting it onto my new HDD thats coming soon. WD are sending me out a 320GB top-of-the-line SATA (the KS model) for my 250GB JS model, and giving me 30 days to back up my stuff onto the new HDD... isn't that nice? Well, it was very hot : / |

I don't know what kind of crap you've had installed on your computer. I'd reccomend you keep a closer eye on what's being installed in the future. A properly maintained computer is very easy to take care of. Forget registry cleaners and checkers, just re-format the damn thing.

And that's because Norton Firewall doesn't want to work, I HATE ZA! I have kaspersky running in realtime (which probably uses a bit of CPU) so I'd know if I got any viruses, and I have Lavasoft Ad-Aware run occasionly. Here's what I have installed if you think it's crap: MSN Messenger 7.5 Kaspersky Anti-virus 6.0 Lavasoft Ad-Aware SE Professional WinRAR Semagic CyberLink PowerDVD Azureus Microsoft Office XP Alchohol 120% Heroes of Might and Magic V Playonline viewer+FFXI+Expansions The Sims 2 Nightlife Oblivion (Elder Scrolls IV) Final Fantasy VII Nero 7 Premium Shareaza Windowblinds Speedtouch Modem USB drivers HP 840c drivers SpeedFan Thunderbird+Firefox Combined Community Codec Pack Zone Alarm Look like crap to you?? |

Shareaza <-- that sucks ive used it before, nasty bit of software.also you mentioned norton firewall, that sounds like crap to me, like most norton packages ;p TBH these days the Windows Firewall is good enough to use on its own, no need for an extra firewall really.

Hmm, well ZA broke my internet soo many times, and it's been causing shutdown issues for this PC. Infact, you should read through "the gripes of Zone Alarm", it's terrible. I quite liked Norton Firewall, apart from the whole "it not want to work on new PC" thing... Shareaza, I've used it for AGES, and I think it's the best filesharing client around apart from torrents, so please don't say it sucks, 'cus it's great for getting the odd MP3 or video clip. Limewire, KaZaA, all that ****, now I think they suck, I couldn't stand them. |
