Microsoft is giving away free flash drives

You can get one here by clicking on the flash drive picture
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/m...p/default.mspx
I plan to use mine to boot linux just for the ironic value

Yeah I saw this on digg, signed up for mine. Hopefully it'll be bigger than 32MB but I doubt it.

I think it's a test to make sure you don't really know instead of looking for a flash drive, just leave it as it is

Thanks for the free flash drive, P-X .

And it shouldn't matter if we get the wrong answers... should it?

speaking for myself, I dont see free either. For terms, they look inoffensive though.

Giving up even some privacy is just so not worth it to me. This "generous move" coming from MICROSOFT just looks too good to be disinterested.

Free as in free beer? from microsoft? Think free cigarettes instead...

EDIT:

says it all then. it looked too good to be true indeed.

.
Then what M$ is weary about is its content. Although I see no reason why such content couldnt be possibly made available online, to reach a wider audience. perhaps these packages include an NDA, like OEM deals with Microsoft?

I think paranoia is making you forget this is Microsoft. If they wanted something like that on our computers they could do it through windows update.

Now its obvious that you don't understand why these flash drives are free :P. M$ are sending these flash drives to people interested in distributing windows licenses (or something :P). The flash drives are not empty, they are full of tutorials, guides, etc, and if you read the form properly, are aimed as an information package to proper organisations. These flash drives are not meant to be sent to individuals and I'm guessing M$ will notice that all of us have signed up with our home addresses and gone, "Hey, they aren't interested in the flash drives for the tutorials!" and will decide not to send them at all.

This is not a scam. There is no hidden plot. This package is NOT for regular users to pick up a free flash drive from. Its an information package targetted at proper organisations/companies.

I don't mean to come accross harsh, but you've made a huge false accusation without even reading the documents.

I encourage everyone to completely ignore the advice from Hard Core Rikki in the previous post .
