guys i should have posted this when i first joined so i'll it now. my name is jon, obviously. im 19 right now but friday ill be 20. aside from gaming, i work at a resurant owned by my neighbor and i play lacross when its in season. i havent decided what college yet but i want to eventualy get into law enforcement, detective, crime scene and forensics because im a fan of law and order and nypd blue.

i found the wonderous world of emulation a few years ago when i was using a desktop, since then ive collected a large number of console emulators and a huge library of games. im on a much much better laptop right now and the fact that its a laptop makes emulation even better cus i can play anywhere i take my pc.the best thing about emulation on a pc is that you can have all the gaming consoles and games in one place, rather than having ****loads of wires and disks lying around taking up space.

Welcome, jonc2006. At least, you are an active member. Most of the new members only have questions for PCSX2.

yeah im not even going to bother with trying to set that one up on my pc until some good progress has been made and games become a bit more playable. i had a hell of a time trying to set up the epsxe the first time i used it and i doubt the pcsc2 will be any easier. it would probably lead to this if i did

OMG! That's just nasty. lol. Well I can't talk that much though. Have you seen my avatar? It must be years of RE when shooting zombies at close range with the shotgun pointed up. I never really dabbled to much into PS2 emulation that much either. I tried it once on my computer and just gave up. I couldn't get it to work even on my friends highend PC. I do have a lot of respect for the authors though, it takes a lot of dedication to stick to a challening project like that. I'll wait a few more years before I try it again though. Screw ePSXe, that's a dead project no matter who says that it isn't just because there's no official word from the authors. Move on to pSX, you won't be dissapointed. Anyways, welcome to the forums, kind of a late intro, but better late than never I guess.

whats the difference between epsxe and psx? ive got both 1.52 and 1.60 on here because some games only run on a particular version. other than that its a great emulator, some games i have dont work, but its not that big of a deal, id rather use a program thats free with a few minor game issues than one that you have to pay for to use. as far as ps2 emulation goes, im just waiting for it to shape into something playable, which hopefully will come around in a year or two.even if it was ready now, id have to buy another ps2 for the bios as i sold all my gaming consoles because i now have all of them on this pc which makes playing them on an actual playstation obsolete. for me at least.

pSX's main goals are accurate emulation and out of the box usability. It's very simple and easy to use with little or no setup required to play games. ePSXe's goal is to enhance the PlayStation with the use of various plugins. The graphics in pSX will never be as good as ePSXE because it doesn't and probably never will use plugins as it interferes with the accurate emulation of the PlayStation. As you already know, there is some setting up to do when you want to play a game using ePSXE which I find annoying at times when I just want to just relax and play just like I would with the real thing. The best thing about pSX is that it's currently in development while ePSXe is on hold (I say it's dead). Compatibility is high and gets better with every new release.

yeah thats my main gripe with epsxe, i have to manually configure the video settings for games that use different settings in order to work. i wish there was a way to save the settings for each individual game so i would only have to set the settings once and have that configuration settting automatically load with the game rather than me having to adjust it back and forth myself each time in between games. but im not aware of any ps emulator that does this yet or if its even possible but it sure as hell would save me alot of time although im guessing it could work because alot of emulators let you save different controller profiles and then load them with whatever game they go with, so maybe it is possible to apply this to video settings
