Toms Hardware

Goddamn! I just spotted this on another forum I frequent. I had no idea Tom's Hardware had such an Intel Bias:

Intel Developer Forum Spring 2005:
From Multi-Cores To Domination

On the other hand, after two days of IDF we felt like it did not make much of a difference whether some of the announced things were on track or slightly behind. AMD currently provides the fastest PC processor, but how important is this for the average user? Is it really about performance any more?

We say it is not.
Intel is not going to sell products based on sheer speed alone, but rather because of what these technologies directly enable us to do. It's simply fascinating to consider what future systems might be capable of. Eventually, the new features Intel has shown us could mean that Intel powered solutions will dominate, whether or not competitors have faster chips.

Hello? I'm sure that not long ago Tom's Hardware was saying that the P4 overpriced edition was faster than AMD's offering, flying in the face of evidence presented by basicaly everyone else. Now speed doesn't matter and features do? Like the x64 extensions and on die memory controllet the Athlon 64 and Opterons have ben touting for ages?
I digress. I always thought that I could rely on Tom's hardware for a vague indicator of system performance from various components. Now I see it's all 'bout the money.
*sighs* Anyone know some good less biased review sites out there?

Hardware manufacturers bully and bribe review sites to get positive ratings.
Some time ago, a Brazilian hardware site (Clube do Hardware) got into trouble with Asus. Asus refused to send any MOBO for testing and reviewing, unless they were guaranteed to get positive reviews (talk about unbiased reviews ).

The tactics employed by the big corporations are disgusting, to say the least.

As for the question asked, I used to like Anandtech’s reviews. Don’t know what is their current level of bias, though.

I've always liked Tom's Hardware Guide. People have been saying they're biased towards Intel for years (and maybe they are so to a degree) but every site is biased to some degree. What I like about them is that they're actually critical of AMD, unlike every other hardware site in the world who kiss AMD's butt and praise everything they make, just because they're the underdog. Anandtech is good as well, although I don't visit it as frequently as THG.
