For the Record

I do not condone, facilitate, or utilize software piracy.

Recently, a post of mine has been misunderstood, and I'd like to clarify.

I own a legitimate copy of the game in question. (Thousand Arms) However, I do not own software necessary for ripping said games to a useable iso file. I let him temporarially take the disks for that game, which he then ripped for me, and gave me disks with the ripped iso files. However, I couldn't get ahold of him when the problems arose...hence my assuming he'd mislabeled the isos.

Nowhere in the post in question did I say or insinuate the software was pirated. I feel locking said thread and putting a mark against my record was jumping the gun a bit, but with the climate of things lately I can understand a bit of jumpiness regarding piracy issues. At any rate, I'd appreciate, if possible, if not unlocking the thread and allowing me to clarify there (which I would also appreciate) at least to remove said mark from my record.

What? Like hte freeware ISOBuster? You see, we've had people make such claims before, but when you can look on google and find 'free iso making' so easily, you take all such claims with a pinch of salt and a dash of vineagar. As to the removal of said mark, take it up with the admin who did it.

I wasn't familiar with Isobuster, though that will certainly make converting my psx library easier, thanks for that. I apologize for my ignorance, but that hardly makes me guilty of piracy, or of violating this forum's rules.

True enough, however, to support what Kane said, a search on Google usually remedies 99% of computer/gaming problems. In addition, a relatively quick search on the forums usually will turn up at least a few responses to common problems/questions.

That must be me. I didn't remove the mark, though i added this info and a link to this thread as well. As long as you keep up with the rules, you don't have to worry. Measures are taken when a user repeatedly breaks them.

Regarding this thread, from now on please keep this kind of personal questions on the private messages. Enjoy your stance at emuforums.

Didn't you just finish saying in that first post that you didn't condone the use of Piracy Software or piracy at all?

And besides, if what you said is true, he made the illegal copies, because he doesn't own the game, and is considered illegal distribution of games.

It's not up to me, hell I could care less, but there are rules posted in every forum, no?

That's kinda debatable....fair use is fair use....so what if he had someone make the backup copies for him??? As long as that person didn't keep copies for himself, it is not illegal. Fair use says you can make backups of media you own. It doesn't stipulate that he can only do it himself. Not everyone is techologically savvy. So if they have a friend do it, then I see no problem with it. I think everyone is getting a bit to picky around here....I trade games back and forth with my friends all the time...OMG!!! They didn't pay for the game, they just borrowed it!!!!! Get over it people....Piracy is piracy....standing up for, and pursuing your legal rights isn't.

For crying out loud...seriously folks. He didn't keep copies of the software. Some software companies are already making it bad enough with worse and worse EULA's and nasty tactics regarding fair use, get a grip and stop feeding the beast that kills you.
