Army Service

Hey all

As some of you already know, im starting my army service tommorow. Since i live in israel, i must serve at least a period of 3 years, but since im taking a special and quite expensive course such as programming, i have an added service time of 3 years more (6 months course beore, another 2.5 years after).

I do get to go home for the weekends so i might still be around to post and read, but nowhere near as i usualy do, i reckon.

This community was always my online home and i expect it to stay that way, even while im away.. Thanks to everyone and especially the staff

Well I for one am proud of you. I don't know if Army service is optional in Isreal, but here in the States it is. I have done two years in the Navy myself. It takes a man of exceptional courage to fufill his obligitory service to his country. Any coward can run and hide or arrange to serve only on paper. My country is riddled with people who have moved to other countries to avoid serving the country that protects them. How can they claim to be a patriot or countrymen when they cannot even fufill such a minor thing as civic duty? Multiply that by a factor of 10 if the service is voluntary. You will do more in your 3 years of service then many people all over the world will do in a lifetime. I cannot say that I am sad to see you go like all the posts before me. I am proud and nothing but. I must say, I have very deep feelings on this matter, and it even brings tears to my eyes even ntyping this reply. There is truely nothing more beautiful than someone fufilling their civic responsibilities. Good luck in your service, and cherish these times, as you will probably never again live in such gallant comradery as the next 3 years.
