Question "cool" aftertaste in drinks

have any of yu ever had a drink where it leaves a cool aftertaste in your mouth... y'know things like:
Kool-aid ice cool powder (ice apple is one of the flavors)
Venom energy drink

what I want to know is, what is the "active ingredient " that creates that cool aftertaste? Just curious

My guess is menthol or some type of alcohol. Check the ingredients on the package, it might list something like that on it.

I don't drink alcohol, however drinking Pepsi (not coke) after eating something hot and really salty leaves a good aftertaste in your mouth... same goes with hot powdered milk after having something really sweet.

Well, Mint vodka tastes like tooth... errr... I dunno what it is in english... the stuff which you use to clean teeth. No matter, it gives you a good breath.

Good shot: take a normal glass, put half-inch of Gin, (depending on how strong you want it, of course) and fill rest with grape lemonade. Result is selfmade longdrink! And a good one.

The tap water in my city tastes better than ANY bottled water. It tastes kind of like cherry water. I wonder why...

I love it here in Holland. Ours is really good, all the bottled water tastes horrible and costs ten times as much.
The only good bottled water is Heineken

But when I was in Italy, the water from the tap made some ppl race to the toilet ASAP

I'm guessing it may be due to sweeteners (e.g., aspartame in soft drinks) or some other additive.

Our family only drinks bottled water, although tap water's just as good. For some reason they got the erroneous idea that bottled water is safer or more nutritious than tap water (not true in Canada and the US).

Well, dunno about there but in here tap water comes with chlorine... I don't think that you would want to drink that... mineral water on the other hand tastes just normal.
