Gamecube broke?

I bought gamecube from a friend of mine. It was working like a charm and it has been definetly taken care of well. However, i played Metroid Prime, and took a break and turned my cube off. Hour later i turned it back on and got only black screen. Light is lit on and fan is working, but disc doesnt spin at all. It doesnt even try to spin. It wont even go to management screen, when i turn Cube on without disc. Is spinner motor busted? But doesnt it go to setupmanagement screen even if motor breaks? Its not that old console, about a year. Anyone had similar situation?

Its bit annoying since i JUST beated Ripley in Metroid Prime, so WHY it had to break now that i was soon going to finish game..

I have been considering in marching to some videogame store and ask if they knew where here is Nintendo licensed repairs company. Also since its about year old, it should still have... ummm... goddammit i forgot the word... left, so repairing shouldnt cost anything. Problem is that how i proof that its bought at october by my friend. I bet he doesnt have ticket, which he received when buying it, anymore. But i heard ticket isnt necessary anymore, and they have other means to confirm how old console is. Can anyone confirm this?

Warrenty?

I'm pretty sure you need the warrenty slip though. Or a valid receipt to when you bought it.

EXACTLY. Warranty, thats the right word. Yeah, i probaply should send it to nintendo, but i have no detailed info of where and how i should send it. Thats why im hunting for nintendo licensed repairs company in my area. They should know what to do. And if sending it to nintendo isnt possible, they could probaply repair it. But if it costs more than 50$/€, i'd rather buy used, working console instead... Nintendo has been known for quality products, but this kinda ruined their image in my eyes. Console breaks, and it hasnt been used improperly in anyway. My good old NES worked for years, even when it was punched little bit from time to time in anger.
