Talking You know you loved the 80's when....

You remember: "Um Bongo, Um Bongo, They drink it in the Congo".

Friendship bracelets were ties that couldn't be broken.

You know all the words to "Ice Ice Baby".

You wore one of those T-shirts that changed colour with heat (Global Hypercolour).

You know the profound meaning of "Wax on, Wax off".

You can remember watching Saved by the Bell

You could break dance (ok, you wished you could)

You remember M.C. Hammer.

You can still sing the rap to "Fresh Prince of Bel Air"....

You can remember when he was Jazzy Jeff and The fresh Prince NOT just plain Will Smith!

You own cassettes

You carried your lunch to school in a Gremlins, ALF or ET lunchbox.

You can sing the song 'Where are you all coming from'

girls) You loved My Little Pony.

girls) You actually spent countless hours trying to perfect the "Care Bear stare."

boys) You believed that "By the power of Greyskull, you HAD the power!"

You ever had a Swatch Watch.

you spent hours in the basement building and re- building Lego cities.

Big wheels and BMX's were the way to go.

With your pink (or blue) portable tape player, you sang to Kylie and Jason!

girls) You ever made Ken fall in love with Barbie.

You know what " Psyche" means

Partying "like it's 1999" seemed SO far away.

boys) You knew that Transformers were "robots in disguise". >

You actually thought "Dirty Dancing" was a REALLY good film.

You were led to believe that in the year 2000 we'd all be living in space.

You had a pair of leg warmers or a shell suit.

girls) You wore biker shorts underneath a short skirt and felt stylish.

You recorded songs off the radio with your boom box.

Somehow you still know all the words to songs played on VH1's "Big 80s"

You can name all the characters on Sesame Street.

You wore those wide, colourful shoelaces.

You still don't like going in the sea because of Jaws.

You never questioned why the A-Team were always imprisoned in places that had sufficient tools to build an armoured tank.

Dungeons & Dragons was your favourite programme.

Cerise pink, electric blue and banana yellow featured heavily in your wardrobe.

Your new winter coat was best used to demonstrate that your wings were like a shield of steel.

You still remember when the A-ha video was the pinnacle of modern technology and you can still sing all the words.

girls) Your best party dress was either a ra-ra or puff-ball skirt.

You tried to convince your Dad to fit a strip of red lights on the front the car - so it looked like KITT.

You've ever seen a girl, a clown and noughts and crosses on your TV.

You hid behind the sofa whenever you heard the word "Exterminate!".

Girls) You owned a pair of Pixie boots, generally worn with leg warmers.

Boys) You owned a pair of pale grey slip-ons, generally worn with white towelling socks.

You tried to do the splits while jumping in the air singing you were going to live forever.

You remember Fingermouse

You loved Dangermouse (not forgetting his trusty sidekick Penfold!)

You know all the words to "Hey Mickey" (well, nobody knows past the first verse anyway).

You remember Wagon Wheels being a lot bigger

Your best mate had a Soda Stream at home and you were jealous.

You remember crying on the beach building sandcastles in the rain.

Hide and seek in the park, the corner shop.

You thought pong was state of the art

You remember hearing the tune then running out to buy an ice cream cone on a warm summer night - 99's, screwballs or a cider lolly.

You got up extra early, especially to watch Saturday Morning cartoons

You were occasionally allowed to stay up late for Howard's Way, Dallas,Dynasty or Minder.

Using the bed as a trampoline.

Pillow fights.

Hong Kong Fuey was a number one super guy

Water balloons were the ultimate weapon.

It wasn't odd to have two or three "best" friends.

You didn't sleep a wink on Christmas Eve.

Important decisions were made by going "eeny-meeny-miney-mo"

Scrapes and bruises were kissed and made better and taking drugs meant orange-flavoured chewable aspirin.

Older siblings were the worst tormentors, but also the fiercest protectors.

UK Specific ones
-------------------------

You wanted Jim to Fix It for you.

You wondered why a popular kids TV programme told you to "Turn off >your TV set and go and do something less boring instead".

You've ever had more than 10 sweets in a 10p mix-up.

You remember watching a house inhabited by a jester, a pantomime horse and a woman who sneezed, and thinking that this was perfectly normal.

Ooh, you could crush a grape!

You've ever held a chicken in the air or stuck a deckchair up your nose.

Trains in Wales went "Pshh-t-cuf, pshh-t-cuf, pshh-t-cuf, pshh-t-cuf, pshh-t-cuf".

You remembered Look In magazine, and when it was only 20p and Monster Munch when they were 10p.

Any elderly Scottish lady sounds like Supergran

Hopscotch, skipping, handstands, football in the park/street, British Bulldog, Beano, Twinkle, Hula Hoops,

and finally:

you own a betamax VCR !!!!!

Broadcasting rights. Without going into all the details, when filmnation went bust, the rights to the original series somehow ended up in hallmarks hands, and they aren't the type of broadcaster who would normally run such a series . Wierd thing is how they haven;t sold them to anyone else though (or maybe they did for the creation of the new series.... I dunno)

-You watched every episode of Robotech on TV.
-You like watching Rainbow Bright
-You collected Garbage Pail Kids cards
-You watched both Voltron cartoons on TV(Lions and Cars)
-You watched Godzilla movies
-You pretended you were Liono of the Thundercats and screamed
"thunder, Thunder, thundercats, Hoooooooo!!!!!"

Ah.. Voltron, Robotech, and godzilla. The precursurs to what is now on TV for kids.

This is embarassing but since I don't know anyone here personally, I'll tell ya.

When I used to watch Voltron, I used to imitate the lion forming sequence with the growls and everything.

We use to have a whole bunch of Voltron Toys. I loved being the Black Lion. Damn, we should've kept those toys cause they are worth tons of money nowadays.

My brother recently got those Metallic Voltron models. All 5 Lions. He keeps it safely aways from kids though since it's worth so much. I just want to play with the damn thing, but he won't let me.

Voltrons were super cool especially when the pilots and their lions came out of their unique tunnels and stuff. OMG I loved that part.

http://www.glacius.net/index2.htm

Go to the cartoon section to see the openings of some shows.

I even remember lame shows like Jem. I loved the opening though.

Oh yeah, I used to love the opening music of Transformers and Visionaries.
