If I could afford it, I really want that GeForce 6. Anyway, if its price in USD is 499 it could be 2500 in my currency. Damn it.

That 499 is only for the ultra version. Nvidia is releasing two forms of the 6800 a regular and an ultra. Regular not sure exactly but i know its a couple hundred cheaper.

anyone else have the feeling the ATI fanboys would be screaming like Mac fanatics after someone says something logicly bad about the Mac

I guess I'll be buying the 6700-6500 range of cards unless a 6800 non ultra is 200USD or less

no....the Mac is a piece of ****. It was good when Windows was at 3.1, but nothing really changed with the Mac at all during the years. A faster processor, new GUI look, same old garbage

Well ATI's specs pretty much match the GeForce 6 so who cares about specs. Performance is what matters and we won't know which wins there until both next gen cards are on the retail market.

I don't know about you, but performance, features, and options are what matters to me.

How many pipelines is in your card is the last thing you'll worry about when you're dodgeing rockets while trying to hit your opponent with a shield gun in UT2004 as long as the framerates are enough to get you through the fight and similar fights in future games like Doom3

Actually they dropped considerably during the reign of the FX. They lost a lot of market- and mind-share and ATI is pretty much even with them. With the GeForce 6800 Ultra they're hoping to climb back to the top, and it shouldn't be too hard with their latest flagship.

From what I've seen, the initial performance of the board is very impressive, but I do worry in one department. For the most part, the 6800 has caught up to ATI on image quality, but shader quality is still sub-par as shown here: http://www.tomshardware.com/graphic/...e_6800-46.html

My concern is this, if they are currently only matching the Radeon 9800XT in terms of image quality, a board that is at least one generation behind the 6800 in virtually all regards, how will they fare against ATI's new board? Performance is anyone's guess, but I think it's very likely that ATI may beat them again on general rendering quality.
