Action speaks louder than words.

If you hadn't started this thread, I would have taken you as a wise poster.

Knowledge comes from learning, wisdom comes from age.

It seems my A's in english 101,102 dont reflect on this board. Forgive me, I shall strive to become worthy of your eyes. Well I must agree wisdom comes with age and while my age isnt very high I am trying my best to learn all I can by reading books, reading online articles etc.. The one issue I can honestly say I have a problem with is focusing on one genre of study. For example I major in programming but cannot stop myself from being a amateur photographer or bodybuilder. I love all of these but cannot focus on one alone. any suggestion?

A's in english?

I have seen people on this board who don't have English as their primary language, yet they "speak" it perfectly. Try to be like them

Yeah, proper grammar doesn't hurt. Using proper grammar not only makes your posts more respectable, it also makes you look smart . Except for certain online acronyms(AFAIK, BTW, LOL, etc.), I try to avoid any strange writing. Maybe I'm a bit stereotypical, but when I look at posts that don't use caps in proper places and correct punctuation, I think "Aw, geez, yet another 12-year old AOL user" . Of course, people will make occasional typos, but doing it all the time i just... ick. That doesn't apply to everyone though. I know a few intelligent people on this board that have horrid grammar(No, I'm not mentioning names ). Okay, think I went on a little too long about that. Anyways, I don't mean offense to anyone with this. I'm just telling my views.

Superb grammer only manifests itself with me when genius' are in the area. Since this is a forum of "no offense" meaningless babble: I usually do not care about my English here. Since I am Israeli I could say that English is not my native language, but instead Hebrew. I wont say that because I dont consider that an excuse being educated in the USA; however I will acknowledge your opinions on the terms of respect and practice better english. Peace.

That's quite correct. Punctuation is damn important.

i really dont think it matters...... if we both know that the '...''s represent a pause in the speech then it reads the same whether he uses a coma or three dots. ...and starting with three dots reads better than starting with a coma and is used to indicate that you may be adding on to a thought or idea from your previous sentence.

In the sentence:
"If people dont use commas when they should I get pissy."
You forgot the comma after 'should'. You could just as realistically use three dots and it would read the same.

When the pot calls the kettle black... I get pissy.

Geez, I should've known. I shouldn't have said anything. I wasn't pointing fingers at anybody, I was just stating my opinion. Sorry, I didn't mean to make anyone angry. Can we just please drop it and not start a flame war?

Edit: Also, I'm not trying to make myself look good. I type the way I do just because I always have, not to make myself look smarter than everyone else. I guess the reason it annoys me is because it reminds me of newbs and stupid AOL users. Again, sorry if I made anyone mad.

btw, I'll often omit the ' in (for example) don't. ;P ...if that bothers people, I'll try not to omit it.

Well in this case I meant that saying that I'll do something won't make a difference unless someone does it. Actually I know you got my point, but nice teasing
