would this be a good emulation idea?

x box makes a officially made emulator when the xbox turns into a 5 year old console.personally I think it would be a great idea for all 5 year old consoles .

Err, not quite sure what you mean... although, if you're suggesting that there be made an emulator for every 5yr old console by the producers, then that wouldn't really work. Firstly, they'd have to devote a lot of resources into developing the emulator, for little return. Also, some consoles after such an amount of years are still active in the console market, therefore the producers would be attempting to milk as much profits out of it as they can. Creating an emulator would put at stop to this...

Also they'd be contridicting themselves, with regards to them stopping piracy and roms on the internet

Is this just your imagination/idea? Or are there really rumors about this plan?
I agree with moomoomoo on this one.

I doubt that Microsoft has any idea of making an emulator. If there are any rumors there pretty farfetched if you ask me. Console companies will be going into the area they have "battled" (not a huge battle but still :P) against over the years

I don't see why that is so far-fetched. Microsoft is still the largest aplication developer for the PC. I wouldn't put it past the Microsoft board to say "hey this X-Box thing isn't losing as much money as we had hoped! lets try to port all our x-box titles to the PC." what better way to port, than emulation.

It'd be profitable for about 10 seconds. Then someone would hack their code, edit a few things, and release it publicily. It wouldn't last long. It's best to just come out with a new console before anyone has the technoligy to make a emulator powerful enough that it would run on slower machines.

Maybe it's not far-fetched...but I dont see what Microsoft could gain by doing that. And how would Nintendo and Sony react to this? I dont see how its going to reduce piracy and all. Or how there going to make money out of that? There going to charge people like 50$ for the emulator? maybe even more? And whats going to happen to free emulators like CXBX? somehow I see it like now that Microsoft is making emulators then doing a similor program is now going to be definitly illegal....
The end of emulation comunities...unless NGEmu and all start to cover commercial emulators from major companies... (If so then I would leave NGEmu )
