New Matrix Revolutions thread closed after less than 1 day

Regarding Ckemu from "They closed Galvatron's thread!"
Quote:
Well, well, well this has turned out really on-topic, flaming, double posting, and no sign of Neo, well there is no spoon, and no there is no thread.

Closed.
May I ask why my thread was closed? Nobody had said anything insulting, obscene, or threatening, and I don't see the justification in Ckemu's actions.

Re: New Matrix Revolutions thread closed after less than 1 day

yeah that's exactly my point i was talking about the whole day... i mean ok in your case it may be a little more understandable but still there was no real room for arguing... even if the thread went a little off topic so many people have posted in galvatron's thread and may have posted in the one newly opened... who cares if it went a little off topic you can simply overread it... what i am trying to say is that by closing a thread you leave many mouths open and then you will never be able to stop the spam... i think it's okay that there are mods who show directions but the thread closing goes just so freaking quick... i mean after all we're in the open discussion and there was once a "off topic" topic here... this was one of the hugest threads ever but still... aww i ain't got the nerves to talk about this topic... anyway keep up the great work everything is wonderful

Re: New Matrix Revolutions thread closed after less than 1 day

Errr... calm down guys... both normal members and admins. Hybrid, your thread was closed because both discussing parts were getting heated and a flame war was inminent

Aerith, your post was deleted since you double posted, and Galv's thread was reopened, so there was no real point.

Ok both part made their mistakes, but lets get along... shall we?

Re: New Matrix Revolutions thread closed after less than 1 day

Well, actually not. Flame wars are strictly prohibited in this forums, and an admin work is not only to solve, but to prevent. Yet I agree that when such a controversial thread is closed a nice explanation is needed, so that there are no confusions (like Beta did later)

And no, this hole is mine, get your own you lil pervert

Err... Im trying to help you Dont make my task harder. Actually in Galvs thread it was a misunderstanding, it wasnt really a flame war, just 2 members wreaking havoc on a peaceful discussion

/me kicks hybrid23 of his hole
/me goes to the RIAA to get the copyrights of its hole so no one can share it

Ok, sorry guys, I didn't know double-posting was not allowed. I just wanted to clarify what I said in my previous post. And excuse me, but isn't the entire beginning of Galvatron's thread NUMEROUS posts by the same person?

In that case its different. Its not that Galv was spamming, but that he surpassed the word limit per post. That and the fact that he divided his theory into topics

Well by the fact that you said it was off-topic you were implying that it was a flame war. And dont try to trick me, i know pretty well your sarcastic habits

Aw well...every misunderstanding is cleared up by now... lets stop now before this thread is closed too

Ok, that makes sense about the topic thing. This is kinda funny. We ought to rename this thread "Rules of the forums".

Re: New Matrix Revolutions thread closed after less than 1 day

You want justification, okay, thats fair, and here it is:

The thread was meant to be about the "Revolutions", it immediatly started on about this 'flame war; which war it most deifently wasn't, you then make a stupid comment about the 'middle east', and progress then to double post.

In my opinion I beleive the thread was not going to get any better, and this 'arguement' and off-topic discussion would continue, frankly as an admin it is my job to prevent this kind of thing from continuing.

You have now proceded to open a new thread simply to raise your point and question my judgement, making this thread spam of the most irritating type. With regards to this I am warning you not to do this again, I will not close this thread, but take this as a warning.

You are quite free to open a new thread with regards to the 3rd film, but if you continue discussion about this 'flame war' in that thread I will close it and put those responsible under a temp ban.

well, normally we often lock threads about locked threads ,
but let's leave this one open....if many users think we are too quick with thread-locking then perhaps we ought to review that policy or something...
...because this type of complaint I've seen a lot lately.

Re: New Matrix Revolutions thread closed after less than 1 day

I normally take the note on locking a thread when:

The topic is dead and it's going no where.
The thread is turning into spam flaming.
The thread is a direct breech of the rules.
The topic is a duplicate of one near it.
The topic is covered in a sticky / announcement.

There are of course occasional exceptions, but I think that is a fair and simple set of standards.

Is there a need to take the banning job so seriously, actually? A couple of advises before closing would be nice.

I meant the closing threads job. Sick.

Re: New Matrix Revolutions thread closed after less than 1 day

Threads are closed often with a reason, based on the rules and that indervidual admins impression. It is our job to keep order / fun and friendlyness on the forums, if you want to see why a thread was closed, cross reference the thread with the forum rules, often it becomes very apparent.

If you have an issue with an admin PM that admin and discuss it constructivly, rather than starting a thread, which can only lead to others interveening and 'flaming' starting.

It is not up to us to PM everyone in the thread we are going to close it, and often we do warn before we intend to close a thread, but sometimes this option is not available, and we simply put a stop to it.

This thread was started, because aerith099 did not agree with me closing his thread, if he needed to complain he should of just PM'd me, very easy to resolve then, without spamming. hybrid23 joins in, already annoyed at his thread being closed, frankly I find that funny as he was saying 'bye' so erm shouldn't he of gone now, if he doesn't like how these forums have 'turned out'........anyhow I shall let the viewers make their own opinions, but the admins are here to help and keep this place fun and informative, that doesn't make us insanly 'popular' but it gets the job done.

nice to leave the thread open btw aerith099 is a "she" not a he... i also should point out that i wanted to say good bye to "emuforums" as the thing it represented for me and i wanted to see if some people realise what i am trying to say... i did reach some people with my message even though it was packed a little so not everyone knows what i mean .. anyways after the last couple of discussions i simply know that i was right with my message and at least for me emuforums is just .... well sad indeed.... for me this is no reason to leave... just to say goodbye

What do you mean by saying goodbye and not leaving? that doesnt make any sense. Nonetheless, all you did was describing ngemu as becoming "sad". It would make my life and the life of the rest of us more easier if you elaborate on that. Otherwise, I think you are making a big fuss out of nothing.

Yours,

My stupid comment was about Bush, a little side humor if you will, not about the middle east or saddam hussein. I apologize if I offended anybody (except president bush and his affiliates). Also, I already stated that I didn't know what double-posting was or why it was unacceptable. I'm a relative newbie to forums.
Hybrid23 is right-I'm a she.
Also, suggestion to admins: Leave this thread open, it is providing you with good user-input about policy, and allowing open (text) dialogue between admins and users.
