3-d Rendered chicas get their own art show.

Story is here.

Its goes off on a tanget about these virtual women replacing flesh & blood models:
Quote:
The ethical implications of their use when these 3D models finally do make it off the screen and try to pass off as real could be enormous.
Which is a load of BS, in my oh-so-humble opinion; its the same reason E-books will never replace paper books (entirely). They might look just as good, they might do the job just as good, but they are not better than the "real" thing.

And besides, you can't screw polygons. Well... almost.

Anyway, what do fashion models, real or not, have to do with ethics? If anything it brings financial issues within the fashion industry but that's just about it. Do I care if the image on a billboard is a real person or a created image? Not a bit. I mean does the fact that Tony the Tiger is a cartoon keep me from buying Frosted Flakes, or make me question society? Please. Even issues of increased 'virtual realism' in general don't really bring up any 'ethical implications'... some interesting questions perhaps, but nothing really 'ethical'.

Re: 3-d Rendered chicas get their own art show.

there is an ethical issue in some societies. Some societies religons or traditions are against women getting half-naked. But I find it useless to try substitute a real model by a "digital" one. There is no point doing so anyways..

haha, this sounds like a real life "simone". that movie with al pacino and such. it was about a director making a movie with a virtual actress. she turns out to be a huge star but nobody but pacino knows that she's fake. it's a funny under-rated movie.

yeah, there's really no market for virtual models. except as some wierd fetish. but digital seems to be a lot less expensive. who knows what people would do with this.

unless of course, it's so advanced that people won't be able to tell the difference.but the implications are huge. just think, all the victoria secret models'll be out of a job. think of what that could do for the world economy; an abundance of umemployed beautiful people. i shudder with horror.
