MIDI to wav
I was wondering if there was any way to convert midi files to wav or mp3. I need it for a movie I'm making, but macromedia flash wont load music in that format. Know if there is any way to convert it?

Re: MIDI to wav
I don't think any specific app can do MIDI-Wav conversion, mainly because cards' output varies so much. Hell even the same card can produce drasticly different results. Your best bet is to do as Kidd and yeloazndevil suggested.

Re: MIDI to wav
hmmm...... somehow I couldn't figure how to make waveout output to work the way you suggested Yeloazndevil
EDIT: couldn't open the file in sndrec32, so it didn't work

Re: MIDI to wav
You misunderstood me; don't open the .mid in sndrec32.exe... this is what you do:
1. Make sure your Recording settings are set to "MIDI" (or even better, "What U Hear" on a live/audigy), recording settings are avaliable on the normal volume control under Options -> Properties 2. Start recording silence with sndrec32... it's capped at 60seconds normally, so if you want a song longer than that you will have to wait 60secs, then press Record once more when it's finished to add up more space... whenever you've added enough space for the song, proceed to step 3 3. Scan back to the beginning of your wave file and save it as a 44khz wave for optimal quality 4. Press Record and then click Play on your MIDI player... when the song's over, click Stop in sndrec32 (or it will stop by itself if you über-timed this before) and save the file Voila, you have a .wav! Remember to cut off the unescapable silent beginning with the Edit -> Delete Before Current Position option... if you think your soundcard's MIDI sounds a tad too dry, you can make it sound wetter by adding an echo via the Effects -> Add Echo option :P (btw, felt like saying this here because it shows how stupid I am... I have made loop-points for songs in sndrec32... I'm crazy xD) |

Re: MIDI to wav
IIRC, Wingroove can help you to get the job done.

Re: MIDI to wav
Just so everyone knows, a main problem here is that takmadeus' volume control thingy is translated back and forth, thus they say stupid stuff.. like, he has no "wave" or "midi" controls, but he's got "stereo mixes" and "phone lines" and whatnot... let's hope Wingroove works or he'll have the check through every possible channel on his card... -_-x
