Virus Warning

Hey guys, I just got a virus named PE_JEEFO.A, which really screwed some of my computer. I figured I should tell everyone what I did against it. It's a virus that infects only Windows PE EXE files that are larger than 123,999 bytes. It will very easily spread to every .exe file(likely corrupting them in the process) on your system once you have it, but only ONLY PE ones(not DOS MZ EXE, or anything like that.) Though they tell you on some websites how to get rid of it, there is one thing they don't tell you. It's very easy to stop the virus from spreading(At least, for me it was). You'll need a process viewer that can view ALL processes, use it to shut down Svchost if your computer is infected. Make a new, blank file called 'SVCHOST.EXE' and put it in your Windows directory. Right click it and goto Properties. Check the Read Only tab at the bottom and then Apply. This should keep the virus from restoring it's main program file, which seems to be the only way it can spread. This should also prevent the virus from infecting your computer in the first place. Any files that were infected should be immediately deleted or replaced. Hope this helps some people.

A few of them are helping the evolution of computing. Take the Blaster virus as a nice example. It forced Microsoft to fix up a horrible flaw in their OS that could've been abused in MUCH worse ways... also, my guess is that the virus didn't compile well. I don't think it was supposed to reboot peoples' computers, I think it was supposed to be a subtle thing that'd go all over the internet, then at the 16th (or whatever date it was) microsoft would've gotten a NICE hit below the belt ^_~x
